This is a great apartment. Spacious, quiet and conveniently located between both mountain bases, just an easy short walk to either and to the village centre also. Rose and Douglas are excellent hosts, calling us on arrival and prior to departure to check that everything was to our liking. The property is clean, comfortable and very well appointed, with many thoughtful extras provided including a good selection of basic pantry items - herbs and spices, oil, sugar, rice etc. It was the perfect place to spend almost three wonderful weeks in Whistler. The second time we've stayed here and hopefully it won't be the last!

Another fantastic stay at one of our favorite places in Whistler. Douglas and Rose are perfect hosts, and their home is not only comfortable but also offers every amenity you could wish for a vacation property. This is a very convenient place to stay. It was our 2nd year in a row staying at this Gables unit. It was convenient to have a code for the front door instead of having to get a key from an office located elsewhere. The owner called the evening we arrived to make sure everything was clean and asked if we needed anything. The place was very clean and well stocked. The bed was comfortable as was the sofa bed for the kids. Worked again for our family of four!

This beautiful condo in the Gables is fantastic. It is spacious and clean and in a very convenient location close to lifts and the Village There was lots of storage for skis right in the entrance to the unit which was very handy. The owner has supplied everything you could possibly need from night lights to pens and paper to flashlights and every kitchen item you could desire including spices and coffee. Very thoughtful! I would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend!

This is my family's second stay at the Gables, and as usual, we couldn't be happier. The property is inviting, well-kept, and offers all the comforts of home. The location itself is well-appointed, clean, and within walking distance to the slopes and shops. Doug and Rose go out of their way to be the perfect hosts and even call to make sure everything is up to par. My only regret is my family can't stay in this lovely property more often. This was our first stay at the Gables and this particular unit. It won't be our last! The condo was VERY clean and comfortable. It has everything you could possibly need during your stay. Sitting on the back deck relaxing and listening to Fitzsimmons Creek was great.

The complex itself was very quiet, even on a busy Labor Day weekend. It was nice receiving a phone call from Rose after we were there for a couple of days just to make sure we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this condo, and look forward to future stays.

Really like this unit, its size, the set up for skiing, the location. It is in a nice quiet location between both hills, easily accessible by a short walk. And we also found that there is little to no noise from other units. The kitchen is stocked great -- tons of dishes, utensils, pot s n pans, baking stuff -- , comfortable living space and dining space. We found the bed too soft for our liking but that everything else was fantastic. The washer /dryer were also handy.

This is our second time to stay with Doug and Rose and our fourth stay at The Gables. You canâ??t beat the location of The Gables. You can be at either Whistler or Blackcomb lifts in minutes without having to deal with finding and paying for parking. Itâ??s is a short easy walk to the village to get groceries, shop or to eat.

Rose and Doug are the perfect hosts and go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They provide absolutely everything from you need from shopping bags to umbrellas and the kitchen is well appointed with many pots, pans, coffee maker, blenders, and a dish washer should you decide to cook and eat in more. There is a new washer and dryer which is very handy.

We will be return!

Another wonderful stay in this lovely, well positioned, well-equipped apartment! We stayed at Christmas and returned in the Spring. It was lovely to sit out on the decking listening to the Creek (which was frozen at Christmas) and overlooking the gardens (which were snow-covered at Christmas). A different, but equally positive, experience.

We're coming back to Whistler next March and are sorry that we left it too late to re-book this beautiful apartment. We will definitely return! Thanks again Rose and Doug for letting us use your lovely home.

Gables stunner

Rose is next level as a host. We got a phone call the night we arrived to check we were ok. Anything else we needed she was more than happy to help with. The unit itself is an older stye unit, but huge compared with comparable priced places and the location is unbeatable - 2 minutes walk from either Whistler or Blackcomb bases (it's situated in between on the river).

We've stayed at the Gables several times now and really like it there. The in-unit washer/dryer is an absolute must for families too! If you're looking for a place with a ton of amenities - pools/saunas etc, this is not the place for you, but if you want something big, clean, full in unit facilities (full kitchen, laundry, drying room, etc) this is the one for you.

Highly recommended and we will definitely be staying there again.

The condo was perfect! Cozy and spacious for two. We took advantage of the full kitchen, buying groceries and cooking several of our own meals. The hosts called shortly after the start of our stay to check in and make sure everything was going well. The designated parking spot made car usage a breeze. The ski lifts were a very short walk out the front door and strolling to the village took no time at all. Everything was fantastic and our stay in Whistler was wonderful!

We recently stayed three weeks in the Gables. We have stayed in the Gables before but never in a downstairs unit facing the creek. The unit was very very quiet and the outlook to the trees and the creek was lovely. Rose was great in calling us soon after our arrival and making sure we had all we needed.

The unit had ample supplies including toilet paper, tissues, soap, shampoo and conditioner as well as umbrellas and grocery bags. The kitchen had everything you could possibly imagine if you choose to cook some meals. Rose called us again before we left to follow up on our stay and if there was anything lacking in the unit.

The location of the property is unique in Whistler. You are literally a two minute walk from the Wizard Express on Blackcomb and a three minute walk to the Whistler gondola while at the same time away from the hustle and bustle of Whistler. In the past we have always rented a car but this time decided not too and we were glad. We took the Whistler Connection shuttle form the airport to Whistler.

From the unit you can walk everywhere. You are close to two grocery shops and a mini mart, many restaurants, and apres ski spots of varying prices, the movie theater, the liquor store, the Cultural Center, and walks, snow showing and cross country skiing when you take a day off from the mountain. Whistler village, with its no vehicle area, is great just to walk around and Blackcomb offers a slightly quieter atmosphere.

We definitely will be back to stay with Rose and Douglas Schwenning again.

Outstanding property in Whistler!

We have stayed in many properties in Whistler over the years but this was our first time at The Gables. It certainly won't be our last! This is a hidden gem, so close to both mountains and the town, and yet so quiet and secluded.

Number 4* is just perfect, on the ground floor so not too far to travel in ski boots, and overlooking the back of the property and the creek, so we didn't even get the noise from the car park. It is very well equipped and we had everything we needed to cook a full Christmas dinner for our whole family.

Douglas and Rose are superb hosts, contacting us to make sure everything was ok and to give us tips about Whistler, and being flexible and amenable regarding our requests, making our stay even more comfortable. We have already booked to come again in May and hope to return again in the future.

Thank you for a memorable Christmas and New Year stay!

Location, Location, Location

We have been to Whistler many times but this is the first time we have stayed at the Gables. This must be the quietest location in Whistler - all you hear is the creek in the backyard. We had the window open every night and not once did we hear the revelers leaving the bars which are common in Whistler at night. The location is fantastic...easy walk in ski boots to both Whistler and Blackcomb bases and a short path across a covered bridge to the Whistler stroll.

The condo was very clean, comfortable and had everything you need to enjoy your vacation. We will definitely be booking this unit again.

This is a great unit at The Gables and a great location. I've been visiting The Gables for several years, it's always quite (at least in late November when I visit). These units are not very new but the ones I have stayed in are clean well maintained, are reasonably stocked with the essentials (bathroom and kitchen items) and very comfortable.

The layout of the condo is nicely setup for skiers with the front entry setup for boots, skis etc. I've never had a need to call housekeeping or the caretaker but their info is included in the check in package just in case they are needed. The check in package is very complete with all the info you need so the reservation and check in goes smoothly (assuming you read the provided info, it's all there).

I will continue to stay at The Gables when I visit Whistler.

The best location

I've stayed in the Gables complex previously but at a different unit and I keep coming back for the location, see my previous reviews for details on the other unit. This one is slightly more expensive but is worth every cent in my opinion.

The bed is the best I have ever slept in, the linen is hotel quality and there's plenty of towels etc. I had an unexpected guest and she said the sofa bed was also very comfortable. There's a large entry foyer which easily accommodated the 2 bikes and all our gear, the bag of rags to wipe them down with was also appreciated. Nice touches include supplying laundry and dishwashing detergent as well as a decent supply of coffee for the pot.

The location is perfect, you can access Blackcombe or the Fitz lift easily as it's right in the middle of both, village centre is a 5 minute walk.

I'm already looking at coming back next year so this is the place I'll be booking again.

Wonderful Vacation Home

My wife, teenage son, and I had a wonderful visit to Whistler and stay at the Schwenning home. Finding and renting the home on AlluraDirect was very easy and convenient.

Then, directions to the home, how to get access, park, and use the amenities were very clear and easy to understand. We had no problems and felt all that was included was in great condition, easy to use, and a super value. Plus, Mrs. Schwenning called and greeted us on the evening of our arrival and made us feel very welcome.

The next time we go back to Whistler, we hope the Schwenning home is available for us again. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Schwenning for sharing your home with us!

Great condo

Rose and Douglas have equipped this condo very well and everything was in great condition. The bed and the sofa bed were comfortable, kitchen had all we needed and there was even a good stock of condiments, coffee filters, cooking oil, dishwashing soap etc. The bathroom was clean, everything worked very well, had clean towels, hand soap, toilet paper and toiletries.

Check in was super fast and I even received a call from Rose to make sure I had everything I needed. I will stay here again next time I'm in town.

Wonderful Late Ski Sean Stay

Could not fault this place as it is exactly as advertised. It would have to be the most well stocked apartment we have ever stayed at in terms of the basics you need (and therefore don't need to buy on arrival) and general items that make it feel incredibly homely.

Doug & Rose were fantastic to deal with and the apartment itself is extremely roomy for a 1 bed having separate Kitchen, Living, Dining and Bedroom areas. The location is second to none sandwiched evenly between the Whistler and Blackcomb ski lift systems and shops (about a 3 minute walk in either direction).

This apartment is perfect for couples and we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. We will be back many times i'm sure!

Very Nice Condo

My wife and I stayed here with our adult son and we couldn't have been happier. This is the 8th time we have used AlluraDirect to book a Whistler condo. While we have never been disappointed, some are better than others. This may have been our favorite so far. The owner called us the day after we arrived to ensure we had everything we needed (we did) which was much appreciated. The unit is an easy 5 minute walk in ski boots to the Blackcomb base and Village is just around the corner as well. I must complement the cleaning staff as this unit is spotless right down to the corners and behind the furniture. It is a perfect floorplan with a parking spot that is pretty much right outside the door. The front entry is warm with benches, lots of hangers and a ski storage area. The bedding was nice and the sheets felt like they were brand new. The mattress is also very comfortable. You get the sense that the owners care about the guests and their experience. I would not hesitate to book this unit again. Thanks for a great stay.

Great location to both Whistler and Blackcomb

We really enjoyed our stay in Whistler and The Gables was a perfect location for us because we could easily walk to either Whistler or Blackcomb. We met the owners - Doug and Rose - when we checked in. They showed us around the unit, how everything worked, where everything was in the unit and what we should do if we had any problems. During our stay we had a few questions and they responded to our needs very quickly. It was nice to have this hands-on relationship from the owners. The unit was very well equipped and they even provided a lot of the small things like spices, coffee, tea etc. to start you off on your stay. The day we started our stay they had just received a new mattress and pillows for the master bedroom. These were high quality and very comfortable. The rest of the unit showed signs of the wear and tear a rental unit is exposed to but the unit was very clean and comfortable. I expect that the pull-out couch and carpeting will be due for replacement soon. As a 1-bedroom unit, we found it to have a lot of room for a couple and suitable for entertaining friends and family for dinner. Also, there was a lot of storage for your clothes in the bedroom, and the large entrance allowed you to keep your skis, boots and winter coats hung up and out of the way. The lower value rating is due to a comparison of price and quality of similar units we have rented in the past whereby we always had a substantial reduction in the nightly rate for longer term stays. This no longer seems to be the case in Whistler any more.

Our second thoroughly enjoyable stay at this wonderful condo which perfectly fits our requirements - the quiet location is tremendous for quick access to the upper village, the main village centre and all ski lifts for either mountain.

There is plenty of space for two people with dedicated kitchen, dining and lounge areas with separate bedroom and bathroom. A nice design feature of a couple of steps down into the lounge area and the addition of an open fireplace add to the appeal of the property. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is plenty of storage throughout including the foyer/lobby which is perfect for ski gear. An external balcony is reached from the lounge and at appropriate times of year this would be a great outdoor seating area.

High quality communication with the owners has always been reliable and appreciated. We will definitely be visiting again in the future. The choice of condo certainly contributed to a fantastic vacation and we were again reluctant to leave.

We have been to Whislter for many times, having traveling so far from home (we live in Hong Kong), a comfortable place to stay after a long journey is very important to us. This property is by far the best and the most equipped unit that we stayed in so far. The unit is on the ground floor very closed to the parking space, it makes loading and unloaded an easy task.

Like many of the previous tenants mentioned, the location of the unit is ideal for people who wants to have easy access to both Whistler and Blackcomb, everything is less than 5 mins walk.

The owner is very responsive with my requests, and are very nice too.

If I need to be picky, the couch is not very comfortable. I can't really sit there to relax without resulting a backpain. Maybe its just me who needs more supporting to my bad back.

All in all, this is a warm home away from home. We would definitely come back if the unit is available for rent in the future. Thanks for letting us to stay there.

Great stay at The Gables

We stayed for 2 weeks in this condo and loved it. It was our home in Whistler. Fast and friendly communication with Doug and Rose. Good kitchen, bedding, wifi etc etc. The condo at The Gables is perfect between the lifts, restaurants, stores and shops. Easy 5 min. walk. If we come back to Whistler, we will try to stay at the Gables and nr. 4* again.

Great condo in an excellent location

We stayed in this condo for nine nights in early January. It is in a great location only a few minutes walk from Whistler main village and all of its activities as well as the major ski lifts. The condo itself is extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a stay. Would recommend this condo and will definitely be looking to come again when we return to Whistler.

It was absolutely perfect! The hosts called to say hi and check in. The kitchen was well equipped, it even included coffee, tea, and other basic essentials. Location was perfect. Tucked away but still close to everything, which made it nice and quiet. My husband and I stayed with our two children (5 & 6) and the space was perfect. We didn't want to leave! Highly recommend it and can't wait to go back.

Wonderful, clean, well-stocked rental. I have stayed in many vacation rentals by owner and this was the best supplied home I have ever rented. The owners were very thoughtful and had a great supply of spices, oil, cookware and cooking utensils, and even bandages and antiseptic ointment. The home is very clean and comfortable.

The location is great! We only had 2 minor glitches. One, none of the HDMI outputs on the living room television worked (but the bedroom HDMI output worked seamlessly) and the other was that we never received the email prior to checking in with the unit number, policies, and check-out time (I could have missed the email, but I searched and could not find it). I had spoken with the owners before leaving for vacation and I had the unit entry code, but I forgot to ask about the condo number which resulted in our having to call them at 1 a.m. when we arrived to check in. They were so incredibly nice and helpful (especially considering it was so late).

I look forward to staying at this home again as soon as possible. It was excellent.

A fabulous stay in a perfect location

A very comfortable property in an unbeatable location for both the main village centre and upper village. Within minutes of the main ski lifts and very quiet too. The property was exactly as described and the owners were very reliable with communication, even phoning soon after we had arrived to check everything was OK. The property was compact and yet has sufficient circulation space and clearly defined areas that allowed us to move about freely. All fittings are in a typical North American style and the most important facilities such as heating, hot water and hair dryer all worked great. Even the fridge wasn't as loud as in some places and didn't disturb my sleep. The added Christmas decorations and general details such as candy sticks were very much appreciated. We would be thrilled to be able to stay at this property again in the future.

Travelling North along Hwy. 99 turn onto Village Gate Blvd. and continue up the street until you reach the stop sign on Blackcomb. Turn right at the sign and follow the road. Once you drive over the Fitzsimmons Creek Bridge the entrance to the Gables will be on your left hand side. Proceed down the driveway and stay to the right.
