The condo was spotless when we arrived. A problem with the parking pass was quickly resolved with a phone call to the owner. It is spacious by Whistler standards and has a nice layout. The decor is original and therefore a bit dated but the unit was fully equipped and the linens and towels were fresh. We liked the wood-burning fireplace. There were no noise issues which can be a problem in some parts of the village. Being on the ground level and close to the loading stall made it easy to move in. The location is a short walk to both the Blackcomb Base and the Village lifts. I recommend this place and would stay her again.

Great Location To Whistler Village

My wife, son and I stayed at The Gables from 16th to 23rd December 2018. First off, Kerry Wallace was a wonderful host. Communication was prompt and responsive and the info on how to get to Gables from Vancouver, checking in etc was comprehensive. We had an early check-in as well which was great.

The apartment was well furnished and the kitchen well equipped. It had everything, utensils, wine glasses etc. The apartment was well cleaned and tidy when we checked in. Very cosy! What I liked was that there was also a washing machine and dryer included which makes it very convenient for extended stays.

The apartment was situated on the ground floor so moving heavy luggage around was easy. The pull out sofa bed was surprisingly comfy too although a bit springy. As this unit is situated deeper inside the grounds, we didn't get any road noise whatsoever. What I liked best about the Gables is the location. Its reasonable walking distance (approx 500-600m) to Whistler Village (to the gondolas etc) and even closer to Blackcomb. Moving around with skis is not too difficult.

The rates are also reasonable given that the hotels at the Village can go as high as a $1,000 plus per night (eg Pan Pacific) for a standard type room during the peak period, if you don't book early enough. For families that ski, my view is that a self-contained apartment with more space is always a better option than a hotel room. Hotel rooms (eg Hilton Whistler) do not have a washing machine/dryer in the room...you have to leave your room to use common ones. That being said, Pan Pacific and Hilton are within the Village itself.

Some transport companies like Skylynx offer a door to door service to Gables from Vancouver Airport, downtown etc...so you can literally be dropped off at your front door. Makes getting to and from Whistler a breeze. Its a nice little apartment for a couple or couple with one or two kids.

I will definitely choose Gables again in the future.

Fantastic Place to Stay

My wife and I stayed for 11 nights. It is a perfect place for a couple. Very clean and very comfortable particularly the bed. It is our third time at Whistler and The Gables is by far the most convenient location. It is a short walk to the lifts on Blackcomb or Whistler. The Village is a short stroll away. All the bars and restaurants at Blackcomb and Whistler are very close. It is a great place to stay.

Location

The Gables is the perfect location! Situated between the Village and Upper Village, it is 5 minutes from all skiing, the bike park, restaurants and shops.

In the winter it is a 5 minute walk to up or download all lifts on both mountains, and to all lessons, rentals and guest services, the Tube Park and night skiing.

In the summer, it is a short ride to the Bike Park.

The grocery and liquor store are a short walk into the Village.

The Gables are situated beside Fitzsimmons Creek and Park. It is quiet and private, yet convenient to everything. You can park the car and walk!

In the summer, The Gables is right on the Valley Trail, which takes you into the Village, as well as connecting onto an extensive trail system throughout Whistler. The gondola for sightseeing and the bike park are 5 minutes away. Two golf courses are within walking distance. The skateboard park is on the other side of the creek. Swimming at Lost Lake is a 15 minute walk along the Valley Trail, so there is no need to jockey for parking.

For conference goers, the Telus Whistler Conference Centre is a 5 minute walk into the Village, or the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a 5 minute walk to the Upper Village.

Reservation & Cancellation Policies

Cancellations Made by Guests All deposits of 25% are non-refundable. All refunds are made by personal cheque. For reservations Nov 1- Apr 30: The deposit is non-refundable. If the balance is paid, the total amount is non refundable except if reservation is replaced. Refund equals value of reservation with which the cancelled booking is replaced minus 4% cancellation fee. May 1- Oct 31: If the balance is paid, refund of 50% minus 4% cancellation fee with minimum notice of cancellation 7 days prior to arrival date.
Delayed Arrivals There is no refund if your arrival is delayed at the last minute.
Delivery of Instructions and Access Information Emailed when balance paid.
Guest Account Termination The Owner or their Contact reserve the right to request permanent Guest account inactivation from this web sites technical administrators in the event of one or more of the following Guest actions: intentional property policy violation causing material damage or fines, Guest misrepresentation and/or fraud, intentionally defacing or damaging public or private property, breaking laws and bylaws, theft, public indecency, harassment, causing bodily or emotional harm & disturbing the peace after repetitive warnings. Guests will be notified by email of account termination. Guests may choose to appeal their account termination. Guests may be given the chance to reconcile with the Owner as a condition of preserving or reversing their account status. Account termination prevents the Guest from booking this or any other property that uses the same web site
Ineligible Guests Reservation Reversal The Owner or their Contact reserves the right to cancel reservations made by, and refuse business to: Guests who do not meet the policies published in this property's Policies Table at the time of booking and past Guests known to have : intentionally violated rental property policies, damaged and/or defaced rental properties through intentionally destructive and/or negligent behavior, engaged in theft, broken local bylaws and laws, committed fraud or who misrepresented themselves, and Guests who have caused bodily or emotional harm to any third parties. Reservation Changes You may lengthen your stay at no charge. Shortening your stay is considered a partial cancellation and subject to cancellation policy above. There is no charge if you change the dates, but total nights remain the same.

Guest Stay Policies

Bike Storage Bike storage is provided in secure underground parking garage. Bikes may be stored inside the townhouse in the foyer.
Check-In Time 4:00 pm. Please request early check-in in advance.
Check-Out Time 10:00 am. Please request late check out in advance.
Complaints Concerning Property Report all property complaints or obvious damage caused by previous Guests to us immediately, by phone and by email as they become evident. Serious problems should be reported with supporting photographs. We will make our best efforts to rectify problems within 24 hours of notification. Failure to notify us of property-related problems while in the property and as they become evident, will forfeit any rights or claims against us regarding property condition after your departure.
Excessive Cleaning Costs If cleaning required is more than the normal 2 hours, excess costs will be charged to the guest. Includes but is not limited to any cleaning needed by restoration services, a plumber, stains, odor, smoking in the unit, or cooking. Includes any extra cleaning costs to restore the townhouse to the same condition as it was upon check in.
Excessive Noise Will not be tolerated out of courtesy to neighbours. If excessive noise is reported, after one warning the guest will be asked to leave without reimbursement.
Forgotten Items by Guest There is a $20 charge for returning forgotten items to guests. Guests are responsible for all mailing costs for forgotten items.
Housekeeping Complimentary. For reservations of 8 nights or more, full linen change and bathroom cleaned about every fifth day during your stay. The kitchen is to be maintained by the guest.
Liability We are excluded from liability for personal bodily injury in our home, while in transit to, or while on resort property.
Maintenance Emergencies 24 hour phone support.

Property Damage Guests assume all financial responsibility for any property damage incurred by you or your guests. While no damage deposit is requested, you are financially responsible for any damage incurred by you or your guests during your stay.

Terms of Eviction Excessive noise, property damage, or smoking will result in eviction. No refund will be provided if you are evicted for breach of policies.

Property Details

The townhouse is a large one bedroom on the ground floor and is on one level. You enter into the foyer, which is a separate room for storing skis, gear and outerwear, as well as wet gear. The kitchen, dining and living room are open concept. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped whether you just eat breakfast there or cook up a storm. The sunken living room is down 2 steps, with a wood burning fireplace, and one wall of windows. You step out onto a 10 x 12 patio. The dining area is a large and separate area and seats 4 very comfortably with a large table. The bedroom has a queen bed and picture window. A 4 piece bath with jetted (jacuzzi) tub completes the townhouse.
