Great location! Mid-level accommodations.

We had a great trip in this rental. This was our second year returning to this unit because it is so convenient (ski in/ski out) and fits our family of four very well. The property manager is very responsive and helpful (our dish soap was mysteriously missing, for example, so they brought some right over). This is not a top-of-the-line rental in terms of amenities, though. Some of the fixtures on the top of the hot tub are a little rusted (we don't care about that, but others might) and one stove burner doesn't work (this was fine for our needs, though it took a long time to figure out why our food wasn't cooking). The kitchen utensils are quite lacking; last year in my review I noted some specifics--I'm happy to say there are now measuring cups and spoons as well as cutting boards, but there are still only six large plates and one small plate (I was kind of disappointed this had not been addressed). We did dishes after every meal to ensure having something to eat off of for the next meal, which just felt like a waste of water and electricity. This year we noticed that there was no large pot to cook in (not sure if this was the case last year). You can make a box of mac and cheese in a medium sized pot, but with a teenaged son, I often boil and entire pound of pasta, and that medium pot would never fit that much. We did find an oblong shallow pot so we were able to boil our pasta using two burners simultaneously, but still, this isn't camping and it's odd to have to be finding creative solutions to do simple cooking like boil pasta. A large pot seems like a kitchen staple that should be there. Other notable missing utensils would be a cheese grater and large cooking/serving spoons (like to stir said pot of pasta; I used silverware).

Oh, one thing that could be clarified is the policy on trash removal. The policies I received via email said we had to dump our own trash at the entrance of the resort, or else incur a $5 charge per bag, but policies written in the unit's information binder said that we could leave up to two bags of trash at no charge. It sure would've been nice to leave it, but the contradiction in the information made me not want to take the chance, so we dumped ours at the garbage transfer station (which it took some time to locate because the directions are from "as you enter the resort" but of course when dumping trash, we are leaving the resort and we turned too soon).

All that said, however, this place is convenient, comfortable, and quiet. Last year no one rented the large house above us; this year they did and it was definitely noisier (they had kids), but it was not a big deal. I do love the mud-room/entry way that is well-heated and contains tons of hooks and shelving to dry ski gear. That is great, and we never had trouble getting our gear dry. Beds are comfy, lots of couch space to stretch out in front of the TV, and the DVD/VCR player work well (the condo contains a small selection of movies, too, which is great). The property management company comes every day to shovel the stairs and hot tub if need be.

We will definitely come back to this place!!

Fine - as long as you don't suffer from allergies

Overall, I would recommend this property as long as you donâ??t suffer from allergies. I am highly allergic to cats, smoke and dust. They assured me no pets had ever been allowed in, the suite was clean, so I attributed it to the aging carpet. My allergies cleared during the day when I was out on the hill or visiting friends nearby. I took antihistamines, aired he suite out during the day, slept with a window open at night and made due. No refunds once you have booked!

The suite is in a good location, and it is a short walk across the road to the hill. The suite was well laid out, quiet, and it was nice to have the drying room at the entrance. The stairs to access the suite from the driveway are VERY small and steep. Although they were clear of snow, it was still challenging to get all of our bags down and to navigate them with ski boots. The tiled floors inside are freezing, even with socks, so I highly recommend bringing slippers. It was nice to have tinfoil, cling film, oil, tea and basic condiments in the kitchen. However, more kitchen utensils would have helped - potato peeler, better can opener, serving spoon, tongs (etc) and more than 4 bowls. The back left burner of the stove didnâ??t work and the knobs on the hood fan were missing. It would have been nice to have hot tub towels instead of having to wash and re-use the four bath towels. The mattress was very soft - I liked it, my husband did not.

Disturbingly, we found a toonie sized hole in the side of the acrylic bathtub. We photographed it and sent it to the management company as soon as we noticed it. They responded quickly, apologizing for not leaving a note about previous tenants damaging the tub. However, they did not seem concerned about our using it, nor was there any attempt to cover the hole. We bought some duct tape and covered it so we could shower without worrying that we were damaging the walls.

Overall, a reasonable stay if you are not an allergy sufferer.

Mostly great

This place has a fantastic location with very convenient ski-in/ski-out. We came home for lunch every day because it was so easy! Our family of four stayed here for three days quite comfortably. The two couches in the main room were a great contrast to most condos in Sun Peaks that have only one couch and some chairs or small loveseat, but this place had two full couches. TV and movies were available (but we watched our own). Very quiet, but no one was staying above us in the main house. Not sure what it would be like under those circumstances.

One thing I think the property listing might mention is that there are *very* steep stairs to reach the unit (the entrance is behind the main house). The stairs took some planning ahead as far as getting skis up to the top wearing regular shoes, then putting on ski boots and climbing/descending sideways while holding the railing because the stairs are too steep to navigate otherwise. The kitchen had tons of cabinet and counter space, but we did miss a few essentials that other condos always have: a cutting board (not wanting to cut on the counter required us to use a dish, but the concave nature of the dinner plate made chopping difficult), measuring cups of any kind, and measuring spoons--all missing, which made our stay less seamless, but also not a huge deal. But I mention them because they are easy fixes and would cost about $10 to outfit the kitchen with. In my opinion, the kitchen could also use some small plates. All it has are 6 or 8 dinner plates, which is fine, but again, the stay would be more seamless with 6-8 additional appetizer-type plates (another $10 to stock).

The other thing that was not fantastic was that we had to wash quite a few dishes before using them: mostly pots, pans, and casserole dishes--because people (renters) don't wash them like they would at home. But this is a problem we've had at many other condos we've stayed at--I think it's just a function of previous renters being lazy and not caring about the next person who has to use your nasty dirty pot. Other than that, the place was clean and the beds were comfy! We will definitely try to stay here again!

Our Sundance Retreat Suite is located in the prestigious Sundance Drive area of Sun Peaks. Ski-in/out access right from the back yard. Ski right into the village!!!!

Easy walking distance to village and trails. The village has several excellent restaurants, retail shops, grocery store, nightclubs, and sports centre. There are several activies throughout the resort, rental facilities, sleigh rides, ice skating, cross country skiing, and snowmobile rides. Our spacious SKI IN/OUT ground floor Suite has it's own private entrance, secured Ski Room. The master bedroom has a queen bed with large closet. The second bedroom has one queen/twin bunk bed. There is one full bathroom, a bright open kitchen with dishwaher which looks out to a dining area for 6, a large living room with 2 sofas and a large view window looking out to Mount Morrisey. A private hot tub is located outside in the large backyard. A parking space is provided.
