Raven 404 acceptable, but not great

The Raven was acceptable for our stay in Big White this year. We had an unfortunately circumstance where our original booking was canceled due to owner sale, and we had to choose an accommodation with less time that we originally wanted (we usually book one year out).
The Raven was just fine, in terms of a place to stay. Some of the amenities, such as lots of towels, the hot tub, nice space to move around, etc were wonderful. There were other things that were of concern, that by themselves, are not big. But, when you add them all up, it detracts from the experience.
- Unit 404 is on the same wing as a large staff accommodation suite. The tenants in 406 and in the suite were extremely loud at all hours of the night, with foul language, disrespectful noise levels, and were not in compliance with mountain "quiet hours". For a family of 5 with young children, this is not ideal. However, LMV and the building manager were both very responsive and helpful for this situation.
- Within the suite, there were a number of 'little things' that were broken, such as the tub filler in the bathroom, the dim lighting, the lack of a sponge or way to clean our dishes, very broken down and uncomfortable master bed (it tacos in), among other things. If these were fixed or improved, it might have improved our stay, as well.
- This year, the Raven was not true "ski out". Compared to other accomodations such as Southpoint or Timbers, you can't walk a little strap on your board and go. There is a bit of schlepping that needs to happen to go across a small street and then down through Spyglass to the gondola. It is true ski-in, though. That was great.
The Raven might be fine for some guests, but not for us. We will be returning to Big White, but not to the Raven.View Full Review Owner Has Responded

Ski-in, Ski-out - There is direct Ski-in access to The Raven and Ski-out simply requires a short across the road, or walk downhill to the Gondola depending on snow coverage. On a good day you can put your skis on as soon as you have left The Raven entrance and crossed over the road.

Single level FOURTH floor 1,200 square foot PENTHOUSE with view to the east and south. High ceilings and Cathedral windows gives a very light and spacious feel. The master bedroom has private ensuite with steam shower. All bedrooms are accessed from the main living area and the main bathroom is off the corridor as you enter the condo. There is one secure parking spot and 2 secure ski lockers. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open plan with beautiful inset fireplace and wall mounted plasma TV. Access to the deck with hot tub & BBQ is from the lounge area.

A lovely, spacious open plan area with oversized lounge windows looking from the front of the Raven building, from here you can admire a truly magnificent view. A relaxing lounge area with comfortable leather sofas and chairs in front of the fire. Wall mounted large screen plasma TV above the fireplace with DVD player and selection of movies for all. There is a Stereo (I-pod compatible) and a Wii Games console with games.
The dining area is next to the kitchen - open plan. A beautiful large solid wood table with seating for 6. Additional seating for 4 at the breakfast bar.

And now the kids are practically adults, we appreciate being able to range far and wide over the mountains all together, or in break-away groups.
Between us we've left snowy tracks in many countries includling France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Japan and the UK. There are plenty of great place round the world, but Big White is our dream snow sport destination for vacations with family and/or friends. And our penthouse is the dream base.
