The main reason I bought this alpine get-away was that it is in a beautifully maintained chalet style development surrounded by trees with famous Fitzsimmons Creek running along side, all of which gives you the feeling of secluded mountain tranquility, but within minutes I can be skiing in the winter or golfing/cycling/hiking in the summer or strolling through the Village at any time of year. Check-In Time 4:00 p.m. Check with us prior to arrival. This may be negotiable.
Check-Out Time 10:00 a.m. As we have many back to back bookings, it is critical that guests have departed and removed all their personal belongs by 10:00am on the departure date.Any guests who have not departed by 10:00 am sharp! will be charged $125.00 on their credit card...no exceptions.
Complaints Concerning Property Report all property complaints or obvious damage caused by previous Guests to us immediately, by phone and by email as they become evident. Serious problems should be reported with supporting photographs. We will make our best efforts to rectify problems within 24 hours of notification. Failure to notify us of property-related problems while in the property and as they become evident, will forfeit any rights or claims against us regarding property condition after your departure.
Excessive Noise Strata Bylaws Apply. Guests are responsible. Quiet hours are 11:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Housekeeping Complimentary. 7 day stay: 1 cleaning on the 4th day. 14 day stay: 2 cleanings during stay.
Liability We are not responsible for any bodily harm to guest or guests of guests while they are on our property or at any location in Whistler. None

Good value for families

When we arrived we had been given the wrong security code but Dirk was easily accessible by phone and helped us get in. Also, there were wet towels in the dryer, and the carpet didn't seem like it had been vacuumed, the place was very dusty. On the deck there was an ashtray full of cigarette butts.

The kitchen pantry was full of the owners personal items so it was hard to find a place to put any of our groceries. We also had a difficult time locating the trash can for the kitchen. Once we rearranged some items and called Dirk about the trash can, we had a good visit for the week we were there. The location is great and we have regularly stayed at another unit in the Gables for 16 years but we needed a larger place this time.

We would recommend this property if guests don't mind staying at someone's home because it's not set up as a vacation rental so much as it is like the family uses it a lot, which is great for them. We manage many properties and though they're comfortable and welcoming, they aren't so filled with the owners personal items that it's hard to find space for what the guest brings.

Best rental at Whistler

One of the best vacations rental I ever had. The condo is very close to the ski lifts/gondolas and the village, just a walk across the street. This is a big plus when walking with ski boots on. The condo was perfect for 5 adults, all with own beds in three separate bedrooms.

The place is super clean, has all the amenities, including a full-stocked kitchen and fast internet wi-fi. We all loved the heated entry where we stored skis and jackets that dried up fast. The owner also very promptly responded to al myl questions.

This will be our home away from home whenever we return Whistler!

Good but a couple of details misleading

Plus points first - great location & good, very well equipped house..

However - the description is misleading re. the upstairs bedrooms - you access the double through the twin and the twin has open 'windows' over the sitting room & the double has glass windows over the sitting room but you can sill hear every word said if in these bedrooms/the sitting room so not private at all.

Stayed for 9 nights so were expecting the promised (and would have appreciated) clean on day 4 - this did not happen & Dirk didn't reply to my email asking when it would happen so that was disappointing.

Cozy and close to gondola

My family of five adults enjoyed a fortnight in this apartment. There were many positives, including the efficient heating system, particularly the drying room for clothes and boots at the entry. It is most convenient to have the keyless entry for various family members coming and going. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped ( the addition of serving spoons and tongs would have made it excellent).

It is a short and pleasant walk to both Blackcomb and Whistler gondolas and the unit was quiet, we never heard other occupants. The dining table comfortably seats at least six, the lounge was comfortable and the use of efficient washer and dryer appreciated.

A couple of things could have been improved. Primarily the fact that the upstairs toilet was not functioning on arrival , a Thursday, and when we rang to ask for it to be fixed we were told that Tuesday would be the earliest. Our three adult children slept upstairs, one has a disability, and having to negotiate unfamiliar stairs in the dark to the downstairs toilet for five nights was most inconvenient. It appeared that the problem was known before our arrival as the water to the toilet had been turned off prior to our arrival.

Two other minor things which would help others, the description of the bedrooms does not make clear that the bigger upstairs bedroom does not have a door and is used to walk through to the third, smaller room. Depending on guests, this does not suit all. Lighting is very weak, particularly upstairs.

There is a lovely fireplace, but no wood was left, nor advice about how to obtain, a great disappointment to we from a sunny clime who were really looking forward to having a real fire! and one of the attractions of this unit was the open fire. We were blessed with excellent weather and snow and had a wonderful holiday.

This is a well positioned apartment and with minor improvements provides a great base for a Whistler vacation.

Great location, superb value

Hi. We had a great stay at the gables. The location was perfect for our group and the size of accommodation suited us very well. Everything was lovely and clean with all we could ask for as far as utilities are concerned. Communication prior to our trip was first class with any query answered within hours. dirk was very helpful when asking about travel cot for our baby etc. parking was easy, but it did take a few minutes on arrival to find the door to the property.

A couple of things worth pointing out...

The stairs that lead up to the property cam be a problem with a baby, pushchair etc.

The opening shutters on the mezzanine level should have a lock on them. It was a bit concerning having a 2 year old who's finding his climbing feet up there sleeping.

There was one occasion when we were dropping shopping off in the loading bay and the tow truck company attempted to tow the car whilst the shopping was being taken upstairs. The car had not been there two minutes. This was reported at the time but not answered.

There's a lack of soundproofing in the building construction so you can hear everything from other rooms.

Other than those things, everything was fantastic and I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone visiting whistler. The fact it's only 1 minute walk to blackcomb base is amazing... Ideal for dropping kids off at kids ski school there.

Another great thing is access to the walks and trails directly from the property. Hopefully we'll see some bears next time.

Apart from the property, there is one thing that I must mention regarding the payment process. It would be 100 times better if it was possible to pay with different cards on the same booking. We ended up having to transfer cash amongst different accounts before paying the single payment that is allowed after the deposit had been paid. This is not convenient at all for a mixed group from different families/households.

Other than that, great access to some amazing properties from alluradirect. We first used you 11 years ago on our last trip to Whistler and will use you again, perhaps even to somewhere different next time we come to the friendliest most welcoming country on earth.

Terrific property for a skiing/boarding vacation

My husband & 2 adult children stayed here for 8 nights. (A childhood friend of our kids joined us for a few days as well). The property is lovely & cozy & very well -appointed. We were in Whistler to ski/board and the location was great - minutes from either the Wizard chair on Blackcomb or the gondolas in the Village.

The front entryway provided storage for all our equipment. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable beds for everyone (even when there was 5 of us), internet access for sharing all our great photos in real time & a much - needed washer /dryer to keep us presentable. We hope to return!

Our stay started badly as we arrived to find that the property had not been cleaned since the last occupant. Although nothing could be done that afternoon - we had to change the sheets - the cleaners came very promptly the next day and did a very thorough job. As this issue was not caused by the owner who was very helpful and did offer to pay for accommodation in a hotel for that night we overcame this glitch and had a very enjoyable stay. Well appointed comfortable property and always nice to find somewhere where there are basics such as salt and pepper! Good location. Great snow and (strangely) empty slopes made for a wonderful holiday too!

This was an ideal condo for our family group who were in Whistler for a ski holiday. The location is steps from the lifts of both Whistler and Blackcomb, so it is easy to be up and on the lifts at either. It is also a very easy walk to and from Whistler village- and about the quietest we have found this close in. The arrangement for ski gear storage was well thought out- a heated entry way had our outer gear dry by the next morning and ready to go. The space suited our group perfectly

Location was very good. Not exactly ski-in-ski-out because you have to cross the road to Blackcomb Base. Having said that, extremely convenient access to both Whistler Village and Upper Village. We did not have a car and it was absolutely no problem for us to get around by walking, free bus or taxis. Nice cosy, friendly house. Good amenities. Excellent washing machine and dryer which we put to very good use...since we were travelling with our 17 month old daughter :) (By the way, we used the babysitting services of www.babysittingwhistler.com and they were excellent!) Only slight glitch was that the free mid-week cleaning did not materialize. We stayed for 7 nights and we thought we were going to get a mid-week clean on Day 4. I would highly recommend this place, especially for a family or group of friends who want the freedom and ease of access to the mountain or the villages on each person's own time without having to depend on sharing a car.

We stayed at The Gables in March 2013 and it was perfect. The location was unbeatable. We have a 7 year old and 4 year old and it was a 1 minute walk to lessons and the Blackcomb base. Or go out the back entrance and Whistler base was a 2 minute walk. The apartment was much more than we expected. All the little things you forget to bring were already there. Washing detergent, paper towels, ketchup etc. were small things that made our stay so much easier. Not to mention all the plates, cutlery, pots and pans to make almost anything. If you didn't want to cook you could order takeaway from almost anywhere using the phone in the apartment or the free WiFi. I also liked the keyless entry which meant anyone could come and go as they needed. No worry about who has a key etc. The apartment was plenty big enough for 4 adults and 2 children to comfortably live in for 10 days. It was nice that the kids could escape upstairs and watch their own TV too. We loved it so much we're planning on going back in December 2013! Thanks to Dirk and family for providing such a warm and inviting place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed it and sincerely appreciated it.

Our second stay at the condo...weather excepted it was just as enjoyable as the first. The condo has been well maintained and everything was as we found it last time..wonderful. Again the quality of the furnishings and appliances is a major plus,as is the locale,which is only ever a short walk from everywhere. There is nothing to fault here;it has the most efficient drying room I have ever come across,it is incredibly cosy and all needs are catered for.

Really well equipped, family friendly condo which is right in the centre of the village. A great spot for getting to both whistler and blackcomb base. No complaints what so ever. One of these places that is surprisingly better than you had hoped for when booking online! A bit of a strange layout but it worked.

We absolutely loved this unit. The townhouse has everything a large family or group needs to make their stay comfortable. Lots of space, beds and high grade kitchen appliances. The location can't be beat. A few minutes either way and you are at Blackcomb or Whistler mountain. The owner is fantastic to work with and does everything to help make your stay a memorable one. Can't wait to return one day.

Simply the best location in the resort, slap bang between Whistler and Blackcomb. The unit is comfortable, simple and forms an excellent base for a stay in Whistler Blackcomb. The only negative I have is that we only stayed for 4 nights and wish it could have been a longer vacation!!

The condo is conveniently located between Whistler and Blackcomb. Has all the necessary home amenities. Includes wifi and entertainment system. Very nice layout and felt very roomy.

A wonderfully situated apartment. Proximity to everything; furnished with taste with every comfort catered for. The apartment catered wonderfully to the requirements of skier and non-skier alike; a lovely sanctuary to come home to. Special mention to the quality of the appliances,which make a lengthy stay so much easier. Six adults; three snorers...no problems.

We had a great time at the Gables. The condo was nicely appointed and very comfortable. It's an easy walk to Blackcomb base, where we started our ski days. And it's not much further to Whistler Village and the Whistler base area. You really don't need a vehicle when you stay here, given the great location. Can't wait to come back.
