Whistler Blackcomb has invested $12M to update the existing Whistler Village Gondola. These new gondolas will be able to accommodate 8 people comfortably, with all the skis and snowboard gear nicely stored outside.
Whistler Village Gondola Upgrades Guest Experience
The current Whistler Village gondolas have been in place since 1988, making this a highly anticipated update for the ever popular Whistler Blackcomb ski resort. Although the current gondolas were meant to fit 10 people, once ski gears are loaded inside the cabins would typically only fit 7 or 8 people. Beginning the Winter 2014/15 Season, skiers and snowboarders will no longer have to ride to the top of Whistler mountain in a half-seated position. They will be transported in comfort all the way to the top, without the hassle of carrying their gear. The skis and snowboards will be stowed outside the cabin, yielding to an increase capacity by 12%. There will also be improvements for Whistler Village, Olympic and Roundhouse Stations.
It’s time to plan that visit to Whistler, to experience these state-of-the-art gondola for yourself! Whistler Blackcomb has also started using RFID tags for lift access, allowing a more hassle-free way of getting up 8,100 acres of terrain!
