The Annual Whistler Readers and Writers Festival is back in Whistler for it’s 13th year! This yearly Whistler festival is put together by a local non-profit organization called Whistler Writers Group to celebrate literary arts within Whistler and the Sea to Sky Corridor. The event runs from October 17 to 19, 2014 and will feature various workshops, panel discussions and readings.
Whistler Writers Fest, Promoting Literature Within the Community
The three-day event will include several workshops, discussions and book readings featuring authors of different genres; poetry, fiction and non-fiction. New this year is an expansion of the event’s reading series, which will involve the Opening Night Cabaret, where authors will read excerpts from their work in collaboration with music from local Whistler musicians.
Workshops will include:
- Memoir Writing
- Writing for Young Readers
- Writing Effective Prose
- Self-Publishing Workshop
Ticket prices range from $12 to $35, except for Reading Event 1: Music is For Everyone with Jill Barber which is free and Workshop 1: A to Z of Self-publishing with Martin Crosbie for $85. The festival will be held in three venues around Whistler; Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Millenium Place and the Whistler Public Library.
