With the opening of Whistler Mountain comes the first official feeling of the winter season, and with that, the Whistler transit winter service begins tomorrow, Nov. 17. Whistler’s snow season means a winter wonderland that increases the difficulty of getting around for the usual pedestrians and cyclists. As the winter season wears on, BC Transit will increase Whistler’s transit schedule with added routes and added buses for increased capacity.
BC Transit to Increase Winter Service Operations…
Beginning tomorrow, the resort’s transit schedule will start its Early Winter service with the return of the #5 Upper Village/Benchlands Shuttle. Additional service routes include Tamarisk, Cheakamus, Blueberry Hill, Spruce Grove/White Gold, Alta Vista, Rainbow/Emerald and south Village to Whistler Creek.
Further additions to the Whistler transit schedule will take place on the American Thanksgiving weekend, with a full winter schedule beginning Dec. 13, 2012 until April 9, 2013. For those wanting to enjoy the nightlife in Whistler, there will also be additional after-midnight runs to support heavy passenger loads. All schedule and route information can be found on the BC Transit website. For more information on Whistler transit and other related transportation options, check out out Whistler hub.
