Whistler’s newest attraction, Rolling Thunder, involves bobsleighs racing down Whistler Sliding Centre‘s tracks on rubber wheels. Each bobsleigh will be driven by a Professional Bobsleigh Pilot, and will have room for 4 daredevils to have the ride of their lives.
Rolling Thunder – The First Of Its Kind in BC
Another great addition to the various activities and attractions in Whistler during the summertime, the “Rolling Thunder” is the first of its kind in BC. Each ride costs $89 + tax per person, with an age limitation of 14 or older. Rolling Thunder operate Thursday to Monday, starting June 28th until September 1st.
The bobsleighs have been specifically designed not to run on ice, so although they may be relatively slower compared to their winter counterpart, they can still reach speeds of up to 80 kms an hour. Fearless adventurers will be given an orientation before getting on the track; this would include safety precautions and a history of the Sliding Centre as a Winter Olympic Venue in 2010. Afterwards, guests will be led by their fearless Pilot through the 10 corners of the track, even passing through the well-known Thunderbird Corner at top speeds!
This new Whistler bobsleigh attraction, Rolling Thunder, is definitely bound to get the adrenaline pumping and knees wobbly. With the attraction being the only one in BC so far, it will definitely be a unique experience and one tick off the bucket list.
