Whistler Blackcomb Names Blackcomb Mountain’s New Chairlift Crystal Ridge Express
Whistler Blackcomb announced that Blackcomb’s new Crystal Zone chairlift will be named Crystal Ridge Express. Local Whistler resident, Kevin Welsh, won the “You Name It” chairlift competition that Whistler Blackcomb announced in late January. The new high-speed quad chair will significantly increase access to Crystal Zone trails such as Ridge Runner, Rock ‘N’ Roll, and other gladed trails like Outer Limits without having to return to the Excelerator Express.
Crystal Zone on Blackcomb Mountain Gets Improved Accessibility
As expected, many local skiers and boarders who frequent Blackcomb Mountain kept their entries aligned with the history of the Crystal Zone area, a very iconic section of Blackcomb Mountain. The “You Name It” competition received an overwhelming amount of entries that paid tribute to Crystal Zone, resulting in multiple entries for Crystal Ridge Express. The winner of the “You Name It” contest, Kevin Welsh, was selected after a draw was conducted to establish the winner. Kevin win’s the privilege of a 2013/14 Unlimited Winter Season Pass or a $1,000 Whistler Blackcomb Gift Card, plus the opportunity for himself and three friends to take the first public ride up the new Crystal Ridge Express chairlift.
When visitors visit Whistler Blackcomb next season, they’ll be welcomed by two new chairlifts, and increased accessibility to trails throughout Blackcomb Mountain. The addition of the newly named Crystal Ridge Express chairlift on Blackcomb Mountain, the access to skiable terrain will only increase adding to Whistler Blackcomb’s outstanding global popularity as North America’s top ski resort.
