On Sunday, Dec. 9, Sun Peaks welcomes skiers and snowboarders of all ages to its second annual Resurgance Rail Jam event hosted by the B & B Board Shop. The Rail Jam, set to take place that the Sun Peaks Terrain Park will feature skiers and snowboarders jumping on steel rails, long plastic boxes, and much more.
There are four different competitive divisions to ensure that riders of all age groups are welcome. The four divisions include: Grom (12 and under), Junior (12 to 16), Women’s Open (16 and over), and Men’s Open (Advanced – 16 and over). Each division is broken down further to encompass both the skiers and snowboarders taking part in the Sun Peaks Rail Jam.
Sun Peaks to Showcase An Array of Rail Talent…
Participants in each category will have 30 minute jam sessions to showcase their skills and talents. The Grom, Junior, and Women’s Open categories will be judged based on 30-minute rail jams. The Men’s Open get to battle it out it in the same 30 minute jam session format, plus the top five competitors will decide the winner in the finals with three additional runs.
Participant’s admission fee is from $5 to $10 depending on the competition category. Participants under 19 must have a parent or guardian complete a release of liability and all participants must ride with a mandatory helmet.
For all skiers and boarders, this is the second major event of the year at Sun Peaks with more coming after New Year’s. In January, the Annual Family Cup takes place in Sun Peaks followed by the FIS World Cup of Speed Skiing in February.
