The Skier's & Rider's Dream Forecast
This winter, get ready to batten down the hatches... unless that is, you are a skier or snowboarder!
The Source
With La Nina returning after a 7-year absence, winter this year will likely be colder and wetter for Canada, especially around the usually temperate coastal area.Previous years have seen La Nina's brother, El Nino, make winters fairly warm and dry. According to Wikipedia, La Nina is 'a coupled ocean-atmosphere phenomenon' and during La Nina's reign, the 'sea surface temperature across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean will be lower than normal by 0.5°C.' Because the ocean is the great regulator of temperature for the coastal region, a lower average ocean temperature will correspond with cooler weather.
