Kelowna’s longest running ski resort, Big White, officially opened for its 50th season yesterday to over 200 people waiting in line. The first skiers and boarders were in line by 7a.m. to ensure their spot as first in line when Big White opened the season for the 50th time.
Big White Looking to Celebrate in Style…
With new direct flights from Los Angeles to Kelowna, Big White is looking to have a banner 50th season as it looks to celebrate in style. But for many, yesterday was all about the diehards who were more concerned with getting on the chair lift and enjoying the freedom of ‘flying’ down the mountainside. Some thought they’d take their chances and teach their friends or siblings’ new tricks they learned over the off-season, while others were more concerned about enjoying the early snow conditions and wearing off the rust that comes with the off-season.
Either way, hundreds of people took to Big White and thoroughly enjoyed what is considered one of the best family ski resorts in North America. With that in mind, we’re sure the plans for the 50th anniversary celebration will create a big attraction and add to the things to do in Big White this winter.
