Big White Ski Resort Celebrates 50 Years of Champagne Powder Snow
British Columbia’s Okanagan region is celebrating a major milestone for its top ski resort, Big White, as they celebrate its 50th anniversary this winter. Big White Ski Resort turns 50 years old this year after having begun operations in 1963. To say this least, the resort has grown significantly over the years from unpaved roads and tough transportation accessibility to now being rated as one of the best family ski resorts in the world.
Big White Continues to Bring in Awards…
Big White was recently nominated for Best Family Resort in the World at the 2012 World Snow Awards and was recently ranked as one of the top five family ski resorts in the world by UK’s Independent Magazine. Just this week, Outsider Magazine also ranked Big White Resort in its Top 30 Best Ski Resorts in North America. With its champagne powder snow and family oriented facilities and events, Big White Ski Resort has grown its world class reputation immensely. The resort will also greatly benefit from the new United Airlines direct flights from Los Angeles to Kelowna.
Big White Ski Resort also holds the title of the largest ski-in ski-out resort in Canada with nearly 17,000 beds available to tourists. To celebrate, the resort is selling a new “Gold Pass” that allows pass holders who have never skied before to receive a free first lesson on behalf of Big White Ski Resort. With affordable vacation rental accommodations, this is a must visit ski resort for any family.
