Whistler has been chosen to host a brand new five-day electronic world music and culture festival next summer, called Believe Freedom Festival. The five-day festival will take place in Whistler Olympic Park from July 11 to 15 featuring four different ‘arenas’ that will cover a variety of global electronic influences. The Galaxy Amphitheater, the main-stage for the festival, will feature ambient daytime lounging to the sounds of reggae and uplifting electronic beats.
Global Music To Take Center Stage in Whistler…
The design of the four arenas is to showcase and celebrate the global influences of electronic music ranging from reggae, native music, and world music. A Global Village arena will also be setup at the Believe Freedom Festival to provide live interactive workshops with global musical instruments that guests are encouraged to bring with them, including, drums, didgeridoos, doumbek’s, or any other non-amplified percussion instrument. The Global Village will provide a distinctly tribal atmosphere where guests can learn or buy from the native First Nations, take in the sounds of the Drum Café, or even explore the various festival traders and vendors.
While encouraged to be much more than just a large concert or party, this even is for adults 19 and over. Tickets range from $156 for early bird up to $312 for general admission. With the addition of Ironman Canada and the Crankworx 10th anniversary, Whistler’s summer activities and events continue to grow and enhance its reputation as a world class destination resort.
