This 4 bedroom condo is one of only a few private townhomes that are considered Ski-in/Ski-out friendly in Whistler (under 5 min walk) by Tourism Whistler close to Whistler Village, and set in a quiet forested area making it easy to get a good night’s sleep. No one above, no one below, no condos in front, faces trees and beside a park, creek and covered bridge.

It is best suited for families and friends of 4 - 6 adults plus kids old enough to ski looking for a condo where you can walk to everything.

Private entrance, 1500 ft2 3-level townhome, about 150 meyers walk to the Ski-in / Ski-out Blackcomb Lift Base, Daylodge, Ski School. Shopping and Restaurants are about 350 meters walk along the Village Trail. If you are flying in to Vancouver Airport, reserve a Shuttle or Limo to & from our condo, walk to everything in minutes. One-way rental cars also available to and from Whistler.

Amenities include, a park-like setting beside a mountain creek with a picturesque covered bridge directly opposite Blackcomb base, heated slate-tile floors, river rock fireplace, log accents, fully-equipped open kitchen great for entertaining, new appliances, and two and a half baths. LR has 3-seat sofa, 2-seat sofa, 2 wingbacks, TV. DR seats 8 comfy plus extra chairs.

This townhome condo faces the pedestrian Valley Trail between Whistler Village & the Blackcomb Lift Base.

From our front door you walk about 50 yards through some trees, or around them depending on snow conditions, out to the Valley Trail. To get to the Lifts, you turn right and walk through an underpass and steps up to the Blackcomb Lift Base. Usually takes us less then 5 minutes walk over to the lifts with our equipment. 

It is considered as Ski In / Ski Out by Whistler under a 5 minute walk. 

If you turn left on the Valley Trail, you walk over a covered bridge, then past the dayskier parking lots, then on into Whistler Village. 

Normally about 150 - 200 yards, depending on snow conditions and which path you choose to the Blackcomb Lift Base from our front door and about 350 - 400 yards into the Village for grocery shopping and restaurants across the covered bridge.

Whistler Blackcomb Daylodge, Ski School, Ski Rentals & Apres Ski Restaurants and Pubs are located at the Blackcomb Lift Base. The entrance to Whistler Village is located approx 350 yards walk from our condo.  No car needed. Walk to everything in minutes.

Guest Stay Policies

Policies:
Bike Storage Bikes are NOT ALLOWED inside our condo, or you WILL BE EVICTED and lose any damage deposit. Sorry but we have had substantial damage in the past. We have provided a Steel Storage Cage for up to 8 bikes in our garage parking stall and bike stands with cable locks outside. Or you may RENT INDOOR OVERNIGHT STORAGE for your bikes and equipment at the bottom of the Whistler Bike Lift in the Garbanza Bike Shop. Its a very short walk to / from our condo,,, maybe 4-5 mins and 300 - 400 yards. Absolutely No Bikes inside our condo pls.

Complaints Concerning Property Report all property complaints or obvious damage caused by previous Guests to us immediately, by phone and by email as they become evident. Serious problems should be reported with supporting photographs. We will make our best efforts to rectify problems within 24 hours of notification. Failure to notify us of property-related problems while in the property and as they become evident, will forfeit any rights or claims against us regarding property condition after your departure.

Garbage Removal Lock the Bins and Save a Bear. Garbage Bins are located at each end of the Parking Lot. Put all Trash into the appropriate metal bins and Lock them with the chain and bar to make them bear proof. Thank you.

Liability We Do Not Accept Any Liability for Injuries or Illness Sustained While Staying In Our Condo. Use the stairs inside and outside at your own risk and choose pathways carefully. Snow and Icy conditions can change quickly in winter.

Property Damage Guests agree to reimburse the owner for the following: Replacement Parking Pass or Garage Key at $100 each, any common property damage, excessive cleaning charges or condo property damage beyond normal wear and tear, missing or broken items, dry cleaning of drapes and sofas from smoking inside the condo, plumbing repairs and flood restoration if toilets or tub / showers overflow, and any cleaning from pets inside the condo, plus any costs to replace or repair the glass ceramic cook top if chipped or cracked, or marks and dents made to the stainless steel fridge, and marks or scratches made to the furniture, walls, log beams and woodwork inside condo. We will not charge for normal wear and tear. If something does happen, please let us know and we will have it repaired or replaced at cost and supply receipts. Any other damage deposit collected will be applied and receipts supplied. One night refundable damage deposit required for all summer rentals or any rental with bikes. Thank you.
Rental Accommodation Zoning We are legally zoned for short term vacation rentals.
Ski & Snowboard Gear Storage NEW !! We now provide a "Ski Key Rack" system on our outside deck with 10 Ski Key Locks and 10 Keys for you to use if you wish. All 10 of our Keys work on all 10 of our Locks. PLEASE leave all our 10 Keys and 10 Locks in the condo for the next guest party when you depart. They cost $100 to replace in time keyed for all 10 locks for the next guests. These Ski Key Locks will also work on any "Ski Key Rack" system at every restaurant on the mountains. Or you may buy your own Ski Key Lock & Key at the mountain shops for about $25 each and use at most NA resorts.

The Drive to Whistler

My safety tips for drivers new to Hwy 99 From Vancouver Airport, reserve well ahead of time a Limo or Shuttle for the 2 1/2 hour trip and relax. Or ask about one-way car rentals to & from Whistler. Currently Avis or Budget offer this. The reason: overnight parking during winter can be difficult or impossible to find because of heavy snowfalls and nightime snow plowing. We have free reserved parking underground for one car. But its not big enough for Thule Boxes or large long SUV's. Height Restriction is 6 ft 6 inches x about 15 ft length. You can park one more vehicle outside, if space and snow permits, but only if you hang our Gables 54 parking pass from your rear view mirror to avoid getting towed. Notes on Dash do not work anywhere in Whistler. They will tow vehicles so they can plow roads and parking lots. The only additional parking may be hotels for a fee and with height restrictions.

Transportation Tip to Whistler

Transportation Tips? Reserve ahead of time at the YVR airport. They get booked up during Ski Season. Overnight Parking is such a hassle in Winter because they must plow all the roads and Day Skiier lots at night. Most other condos near the lofts charge a nightly parking fee like the hotels. We are one of the very few that offer Free Parking in one reserved stall # 54 underground and one more vehicle outside, BUT ONLY WITH OUR GABLES 54 PARKING PASS hung from your rear view mirror to avoid getting towed. Notes on dash do not work. The outside parking lot is very small with limited space which gets even smaller with heavy snowfalls. Take a shuttle, limo or one-way car rentals. Its cheaper than a towing ticket or fee parking in hotels overnight.

What is it really like for 4 adults and 4 kids? Linda C. - Boston, MA Feb 2014 We loved our stay at Gables 54 and highly recommend the unit for two families. We looked extensively for a unit that was close to the mountain and large enough for two families. Not many available but we lucked into Gables 54. Price and location were perfect. We were two families with 4 teenage boys and stayed for 7 nights. The location was exactly as described and even better than we expected, we were very skeptical, you just never know till you get there. The unit is the closest Gables unit to mountain, a 5 minute walk with skis to the Blackcomb lift/Base lodge and 10 minute walk to village. Everyone says you do not need a car and they are absolutely right! The unit was spacious enough for 4 adults and 4 boys. The first floor with living/dining/kitchen was not huge but comfortable for all. Kitchen is well stocked. One family used the first floor bathroom and the second family used the second floor bathroom. The loft with half bath was perfect for the boys. Enough room for them to have their own beds and spread out. Bedrooms were large enough for each couple and there was a third small room with a bunkbed which we never used. Full size laundry on the second floor. All bathrooms and kitchen have been updated recently. Outdoor ski rack with locks was provided as well. The first floor heated tile floors were a big bonus! We were introduced to Shirley, who provides concierge services for this unit, free of charge. She immediately contacted us when we booked our unit and helped with our airport transfers (we got a private van which was much cheaper than the standard bus transfer and great drivers who were like tour guides), dinner reservations (at times we were a group of 13) and delivery of small amount of groceries prior to arrival. Don, the Owner replied very quickly with any questions prior to booking and during our visit, the TV wasn't working so we contacted him and he immediately called to help us out. Ski In / Ski Out ? Hot Tub / Pool? -----------Ski In / Ski Out?---------How close are the lifts exactly?From our front door, carry your equipment approx 150 meters or yards about a 2 - 3 minute walk over to the Blackcomb lift base area, depending on snow conditions and which paths are cleared, so considered Ski-in / Ski-out by Whistler. From our front door choose the safest path to the left or the right that has been cleared, or the little 50 yard trail through the trees, depending on snow and ice conditions, which takes you out to the Village Trail between Blackcomb and Whistler Village. Walk through the pedestrian underpass and up the steps to the base of Blackcomb Mtn. The Daylodge, Chairlifts, Ski School / Daycare are directly in front. You can ski both mountains easily now by using the Peak 2 Peak Gondola at the top included in your ticket price. So there is no need to walk over to the base of Whistler Mountain to ski it. If you do, we have paced it off at about 360 yards depending on which path you take. Note re "Ski In / Ski Out": Years ago when we lived and skied in Europe, Ski In / Ski Out meant you skied to the front door, plunked your skis in a snowbank and walked in. Not here. In Whistler it is generally defined as less than a 5 minute walk to be considered ski in / ski out. Our condo is much less than 5 mins depending on snow conditions and which pathway you take. ---------- Hot Tub?:---------NO. WE DO NOT HAVE A HOT TUB OR POOL. But we have 2 great options for you: (1) We are the closest townhouse condo to the best Hot Tub in Whistler at Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel at the base of Blackcomb. For about $30 per adult per day, you can access their wonderful Spa Hot Tub, indoor / outdoor Pool, and showers with towels and lockers. They also have our favorite apres ski piano bar called the Mallard Bar, a cigar room, and several restaurants. (2) Or take the group to the Whistler Rec Center a couple of miles north on the highway from Whistler by cab, car or bus. It is called the Meadow Park Sports Arena. For about $8 per day per adult, less for kids, you can access their Aquatic Center with large adult 25-meter 6-lane lap pool featuring rope swing, 8 ft slide, basketball net, huge Hot Tub, steam room, sauna, fitness center with weights and cardio exercise machines, showers, lockers, rent towels and buy bathing suits. Plus a fabulous kids pool featuring a lazy river with spouting bears. They also have squash courts you can rent and an ice arena with public skating times, drop-in hockey and skate rentals.

Bike Friendly?

Is the condo bike friendly? Yes, we have made it so. We have installed a 4 ft x 8 ft steel locker against a concrete wall in our parking stall in the secured underground parking lot. It will hang up to 8 bikes for overnight storage. We also provide a Feedback Sprint bike repair stand, two 12 ft cable locks to store bikes at our front door area if you wish. A bike wash station is available beside our front door as well. The Valley Trail is 50 yards in front, and the Whistler Mountain bike lift is approx 400 yards ride away where Garbanza Bike shop is located and offers overnight storage for a small fee right at the bottom of the lift. Its about a 5 min walk. A patio deck beside our front door can be used for minor repairs. Our condo is surrounded by numerous bike stores with rentals, equipment and repairs. Whistler grew up a ski resort but has adapted to become a world class bike destination in summer. We welcome bikers and any suggestions you have to make our condo more bike friendly. But please, No bikes inside the condo. Thanks.

How Spacious is the condo?

How Spacious is the condo? Many guests tell us it is ideal for 2 families sharing. It is 1500 ft2 on 3 floors with 4 separate sleeping areas and 8 beds. It will sleep 8 - 11 people easily. The DR and LR seat 7 - 8 adults. We would NOT describe it as really spacious, but very family casual and open for entertaining. We bought this condo because our best feature is an awesome location within a few minutes walking distance to both the lifts and village for ourselves and kids. Not glitz and spaciousness. Space is a premium close to the lifts. As Whistler was developed the more spacious condos tend to be further away from the lifts. We are a family of 5 and often have friends with us skiing. Lift Tickets and Ski Rentals

Can I get a discount on Lift Tickets and Ski Rentals and Order them ahead of time? Yes! Order through this web site on-line. Best lift ticket discounts are preseason orders before Nov 15. After this, you must order at least 4 days in advance of use to qualify for a lessor discount of about 10-12%. Discounts are not available in Whistler on the day of use, so order ahead of time. Pick up at Blackcomb Daylodge across from our condo where you can also rent all ski or snowboard equipment.

Groceries

What is Available? There are three big grocery stores (IGA, Whistler Village, and Nester's) and a couple of liquor stores in Whistler as well as many small delis and cold beer/wine stores.

Late Arrival

Our flights get us in late. Can we arrive really late? No problem. We have a Coded Front Door Lock and you will be given the code ahead of time.

Late Check-Out

Our flights leave late at night. Can we Check Out late so we don't have to sit around the airport for hours? Sorry no. Most of our bookings are back-to-back and our cleaners need all 5 hours from 11 am to 4 pm to clean the unit for the next guest. Many of our guests who want to ski on the day of departure, move out and park their car in one of the hotels or pay parking lots for the day. Or they go to Vancouver and book a day-room for the day in one of the Robson Street hotels.
