“We really enjoyed your condo and everything turned out well. It is a well-appointed suite and we certainly plan to return. It was nice and quiet at night (even with the Telus festival on) and hearing the birds in the morning was great. We loved the ski storage and the wax table. Providing us with use of an internet-enabled computer was just great. I'd brought my laptop but won't bring it next time. The computer was easy to use.” Michael & Cory, Delta, BC 04/15/10

"My vacation is going to the end in the early morning and I'll leave your wonderful flat in the Marquise. As I am a Civil Engineer, I know how much effort, time, money and goodwill is needed to buy and maintain this flat on such a high level. During my vacation, I felt almost, and sometimes even better, than in my own home. For all this, thank you very much. When I visit Whistler again, I'll definitely check the availability of your unit first.” Baruch, Petach Tikva, Isreal 03/22/10

“Karen and David are VERY responsive.” Kim & Bill, Farmington Hills, MI 12/23/09

“Thanks again for giving up your own owner use time for the Saturday night stay. My wife was very happy to hear that we would not have to move places while in Whistler.” Mike & Chris, Overland Park, KS 01/16/10

“Your condo is outstanding!!! Thanks for your hospitality!!! Thanks soooo much.” Ted, Puyallup, WA 02/16/10

“Everything was great.” Glenn, Bellingham, WA 02/14/10

“It was one of the cleanest and nicest I've stayed in. Thanks.” Paula, Seattle, WA 03/07/10

“Thanks for the follow up. Everything worked out perfectly for us and our needs.” Sion, Barrie, Ontario 02/25/10

Nice condo unit, shabby complex

Rachel from Vancouver, Canada
Date: Feb-07-2017 for a stay in Feb 2017

The condo unit is well equipped, and this is our favourite part of Whistler to stay in (Blackcomb Benchlands is always quieter than anywhere else in the village). However the Marquise building is starting to get very shabby, especially the common area hall ways (carpets / floor coverings)

Minor complaint was that the owners did not respond to a question until I had chased up for a second time.

Hidden gem in Upper Village

Patty from Burnaby, Canada
Date: Jan-20-2017 for a stay in Jan 2017

This is an awesome condo, the owner David and Karen really put thoughts for skier and snowboarder like us. The check in and out was an ease. The information on the check in/out provided was so detailed that we do not need to bother the owner for further inquiries. The parking was also easy to get in and out. ($16 downstairs with a parking ticket vending machine). The condo is very clean along with stainless steel appliances and granite countertop. We cook our meal 100% of the time and the pantry provided all the pots & pans, tools and dishes for us to prepare our meal at ease. The beddings are so comfortable and the numbers of pillows provided can build a pillow wall, it was excellent! There is only one hot tub in the building but it was big for 8 ppl, and rarely it was fully occupied. The only thing we did not utilize was the ski in/out option from across the street. Thank you David and Karen for this wonderful condo. We would definately come back again :)

An Amazing Place!

Charlotte from Vancouver, Canada
Date: Sep-12-2016 for a stay in Sep 2016

Fabulous place!! We stayed here during the Grando Fondo and it was the perfect place.

The photos on David and Karen's profile need to be updated as their place is WAY MORE beautiful then what the photos depict. (As of Sept 2016) Wonderful wood furnishings, clean and comfortable beds, even the pull out sofa bed scored a 'thumbs up' from my daughter! Tidy and well stocked kitchen.

The only thing we didn't appreciate were the few dirty dishes in the dishwasher, probably left by the previous person who forgot to turn it on. However not a huge deal! We will definitely return. Thank you Karen and David for creating such an Amazing Place!

Great little suite!

Rob from Vancouver, Canada
Date: Jun-07-2016 for a stay in May 2016

Great little proprerty to stay in. Very easy walk into the Blackcomb village and 10- 15 into Whistler village. Fully equipped suite that has recently been renovated. We stayed in the summer season s I can't comment on how easy it is to get on the slope, but there is a shuttle stop at the driveway entrance. Pictures are outdated so the suite is nicer than the photos. Definitely would stay again.

Nice Spot

Chris from Ashland, United States
Date: Jan-31-2016 for a stay in Jan 2016

Very nicely refurbished condo with a nice corner of the building location. Very comfortable and well supplied. This is not your Four Seasons resort. But a great self serve condo facility with great community hot tub and spa. The locker area to store gear and do ski maintenance is great. And with good snow cover in the village, it is literally a walk across the road to a trail that takes you to the lifts.

Only downside is the parking, in that it is a pay per day (about 16 CAD) and the clearance is very low (6'-0") so if you are driving an SUV with a Pod on top you might not be able to get into the structure without removing it. We got around that by removing the Pod and putting inside the SUV and then walked everywhere. Its a very conveniently located development.

Clean, nice, convenient unit

Tybring from Victoria, Canada
Date: Jan-09-2016 for a stay in Jan 2016

The unit was clean and well-kept and very close to the base of Blackcomb. Communication from David and Karen was very prompt and contained almost all information one could wish for. The price was very fair for the accomodation. I would suggest a few small things to make the stay perfect.

1. A large pot would be nice and a pot scrubber as the small pot provided had been put away dirty by a previous guest.

2. The pictures on the website should be updated with higher resolution as the low resolution do not make a good impression. In fact I found the decor nicer than in the photos so why not show it.

3. A leg of the high table was loose.

4. It would be nice to include a description of the trails to ski in and ski out as they were not so easy to find, but when found were very convenient.

5. We were disappointed not to find the pool table to play on as shown in the photos - another reason to update them.

These are only small suggestions as overall we were very pleased with our stay

Nicely updated and furnished unit compared to others we have stayed at the Marquise. Kitchen very well equipped with all major & minor appliances. Nice touch to have desk with computer, drawer full of DVD's & very comfy King bed. We were a couple staying but well set up for either small family or three adults. End unit so very quiet.

Owners responded quickly by email regarding reservation- will stay in this unit again.

Great Stay in Whistler

Debra from Redmond, United States
Date: Jan-08-2015 for a stay in Jan 2015

We stayed for 2 nights and the condo was perfect for my husband and me. We will definitely return to this spot. We have rented many condos through the years at Whistler and I must say Karen and David's place is one of the best for comfort and amenities and providing that "homey" feel. We needed a bit of help when we first arrived and David immediately responded and got us what we needed. Thanks for a wonderful stay..hopefully next time will be longer.

These accommodations at the Marquise were great. It was exactly as described on alluredirect. It was clean and had AC in both the bedroom and sitting area. It was quiet with ample parking (even free parking on the street!). There were TVs with cable including in the bedroom. The sofa bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay there again!

Nice granite in kitchen and bath

Rebecca from Bridgenorth, Canada
Date: Aug-02-2014 for a stay in Jul 2014

Overall, this was a nice condo. It was quiet, spacious and airy. Parking was very limited unless you wanted to pay 16.00 a night. Obviously most people did not want to as the road was usually full. I was disappointed there wasn't a BBQ area. The bed was extremely comfortable. I would recommend this unit if you don't care about a BBQ. I was at the end of a month long trip and couldn't wait to cook for myself, but I wanted a BBQ. I overlooked that when booking.

Home away from home

A FlipKey verified reviewer from Edinburgh
Date: Mar-12-2014

Our second stay (and hopefully not our last) at David and Karen's lovely apartment. Booking was simple and straight forward, we had to change our dates which was quickly arranged after a couple of emails. Apartment location is great, nice and quiet but only 3-4 minutes on the free bus from the centre of Whistler. Access to the lifts is via the bus or a short walk (2 minute's max) after which you can ski down to the lifts and you can ski back to within 50 yards at the end of the day. Apartment is beautifully furnished and has everything that you could need for a vacation, bed is very comfortable, kitchen is fully equipped. In the apartment block itself we made good use of the hot-tub and outdoor pool.

This is a lovely condo right accross the street from the Blackco

Tbird from WA
Date: Feb-21-2014

All you had to do was walk across the street and down a little path to get you to the mountain so you could ski to the lifts. I would say this condo wasn't exactly ski in/ski out since you couldn't ski right out the door. However, it was the next best thing, and the path to get to the mountain is very short. You could technically put on your skis after you get across the street and pole to the mountain since the path was snow covered, but that wouldn't really work for snowboarders. As for the condo itself, it was lovely. It is all updated inside as shown in the picture. There were plenty of towels for both the shower and the pool/hot tub. The pool is outdoors and heated, which was so neat to be in when it was snowing. The hot tub is in a clear dome, so that was neat too. There was a dry sauna as well, so the amenities were great. One suggestion to the owner would be to leave instructions on how to start the fireplace. Also, let the renter know if you want them to do anything special at checkout. I'm assuming there wasn't anything we needed to do other than keep it clean the way it was when we got there, but I was a little concerned that I was supposed to take out the trash and didn't know where to do it. Fabulous place! Fabulous location! Thank you, David & Karen! P.S. Ease of check-in was a 4 star only b/c you had to park in a temporary spot outside, go to the unit, get the key, come back down, drive to the garage, get out of the car and find the keyhole, and drive through the gate. Then use the key to get into the building from the garage. Not a big deal, but a little tricky.

comfy home with excellent kitchen supplies

A FlipKey verified reviewer from Vancouver
Date: Jan-25-2014

Good: - well located, right next to bus stop and short walk from ski slope - well equipped kitchen! We were definitely impressed with the different sets of wine glasses (and we did bring drinks up to enjoy for the evening!) and decanter. - We had no trouble making ourselves home and make ourselves some food. There were all the basic spices and sauces and utensils. We even found pairs of chopsticks! - very nice condo and well decorated to make us feel at home! - amenities is good: there is even a game room Bad: - the WiFi password that was provided didn't work. But we were there to get away and we had data to just quickly check our email. It's good. - Wish the hot tub is outdoor but the indoor one is also very nice. - The fridge was making a weird noise in the middle of the night. So our friends sleeping in the living room didn't get to sleep well. - There were 4 of us but we only found one pool towel for the hot tub - We did find the place a bit small for 4 adults. But it didn't cause too much inconvenience in us. We would definitely come back if there is only two of us for a getaway!

excellent apartment

A FlipKey verified reviewer from Derby
Date: Jan-16-2014

The directions for access worked really well, and the apartments was really comfortable. The snow wasn't good enough to ski and and out much but the shuttle buses were reasonably frequent so it wasn't a problem. It was also possible to walk into Whistler or Backcomb village from the apartment quite easily. The lock on the door system changed at 10am on our departure and we were warned to be ready to be out of the apartment with our luggage in time as this would be a prompt 10am change. It did, in fact, change at 9.50am so we could have been caught out. My husband had taken the garbage to the basement and, if I had not been in the apartment to let him in, he would have been locked out!

Comfortable Unit in Quiet Building

A FlipKey verified reviewer from west vancouver
Date: Jan-09-2014

The unit was great for the 3 of us, and it was lovely having a comfy King size bed. The kitchen is well appointed with plenty of dishes, utensils, and pots/pans. Bathroom is modern with lots of towels, including pool towels. I am a light sleeper and was really happy that the unit was so quiet. It's at the end of the hall and we never heard any neighbours. All the important things were well cleaned, but the nice wooden horizontal blinds were super dusty...not a big deal, but quite noticeable. The pool, hot tub, and sauna areas were all very clean and surprisingly uncrowded. The condo is across the street from the ski in-out access, so very convenient. When we arrived, the unit access code did not work. This was a bit annoying, but we were able to contact the owner right away and he had the problem fixed very quickly. The access code for the pool area was also incorrect but luckily another party shared the correct one with us. Except for a few minor inconveniences, everything was great, and we'd definitely stay here again.

The parking machine in the building was broken and didn't print a receipt/ticket for us but otherwise, we didn't have any troubles during our stay. :) It was nice that the kitchen had supplies so we were able to cook breakfast together. The location was convenient - it was a quick walk from the upper village. The bed's super comfy and the apartment was spotless. I like clean. :D

Liked the location and the unit was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Wished there was a garburator though. Also, it would have been better if the building was not undergoing piping repairs during our stay, especially since it was right in front of our unit.

Just got back a week ago from David and Karen's place. Nice little place and well supplied with essentials. Weather on the hills was bad so spent a lot of time in the condo. Nice sauna and hot tub.

We really enjoyed the condo. Everything was like new. The gas fireplace was nice. The location was great. It was away from all the noise of the village but because the shuttle stop was just outside of the main entrance, it was very easy to get to and from the village. Will definitly go back.

Well located apartment short walk from the ski slope allowing you to almost ski to door. Excellent facilities including secure ski locker, heated outdoor pool, great hot tub. Apartment is warm, comfortable and very quiet which is essential for me as I can't sleep with any noise. Wifi is available as well as a connected PC which is handy for checking the weather, whistler slopes and bus times into Whistler village for going out in the evening - the bus stop is just at the top of the drive. An added extra is coffee and tea provided in the kitchen. Will definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Marquise and really felt at home there. Such a great location to be able to walk to the village and back. Comfortable enough for four adults with all the amenities to cover our needs.

Thank you David & Karen The apartment was absolutely brilliant. Modern with lots of space, good furniture and very big bed, which makes it even better. We absolutely loved staying there. The building, spa, gym was average. However the distance to Whistler Village was much longer than we were told by the website. Walking to Upper Village takes 10min and Main Village about 20min. Its a nice walk if during the day but maybe not after dark. Otherwise it was brilliant and David and Karen were very helpful and replied to all our emails and questions withing minutes. If you like peace and to be close to the nature - book this place! Liga & Simon

We loved our stay at the Marquise (Rm 403). It was clean and newly decorated with all the amenities one would need. It felt like home and we treated it as such. It was smaller than I expected, which was perfect since it was just the two of us. I loved the large bed, but we both banged our toes on the corners. We were there with other friends who stayed at Snowbird and we throughly enjoyed the walking trails to their timeshare. I was impressed it was as close as we were promised. The condo was walking distance to everything! Our only disappointment was the jacuzzi was being repaired all but 1 day we were there. It took a whole month according to the sign. Not good! The facility was very clean and I felt safe, well except when we saw bears! Whistler is truly bear country. Thanks for a great vacation!

The property was clean, well kept and in great condition. Only problem we had was that there was no hand soap, and oversite by the cleaning crew I imagine. My only other comment would be to be very careful where you park to unload, we got towed because I miss read the signage out front and parked in the fire lane, thinking the arrow meant I could park behind it not that it was pointing to where the 15 minute parking was located which also had a sign that said no parking, go figure... I admit after driving for 5 hours I get a little rummy. Anyway there is no easy way to find a phone number to find out what happened to the car. But after that little Friday the 13th incident and forgetting the combo number to the door at home (Thanks, David for providing it to me) the week end went well. And the towing was not reflective of the unit which was lovely. We also heard (while we were waiting for our car at the lot in Funtion Junction, too far to take a bus and without any signage on the road, our cabby knew the place) that Whistler is also ticketing for rolling stops etc. Now I've vented I feel better, thanks!

What an incredible unit to stay in for a week of skiing on two incredible mountains! Every detail for a wonderfully comfortable stay had been thought through in advance - with easy to follow instructions posted throughout. The furnishings, computer, wireless, appliances, bedding, fireplace and decorating touches were perfect. The kitchen was not only beautiful, but also very functional for any - who love to cook. The hot tub/sauna/heated pool of the Marquise were easy to access and thoroughly enjoyed. My daughter and I were able to ski/board in and out every day and used the free shuttle bus to get easily back and forth to Whistler Village. Being able to stay in this unit and with Whistler/Blackcomb getting over 18 inches of snow one night while we were there - what more could one ask for in life!

If you love skiing then you know that the benchlands of Whistler are a great place to be. They are close enough to ski in and away from the village. This unit is immaculately furnished and the layout is excellent. The kitchen is beautiful with granite counter tops and an all glass cooktop. It is well equipped and the dishwasher is great. The bed is super comfortable and there is a terrific fireplace as well. The view is of the parking lot which isn't the most magnificent but the windows let in plenty of light. Grab a cocktail and go to the elevator lobby on that floor if u want an incredible view of Blackcomb. There is underground parking, sauna and a pool which is great for kids to relax. There is ski storage below and it is self serve which if you've been to the aspens is wonderful because you dont need to wait in the am. The electronics by the way are terrific. The free wifi is very fast, they provide a laptop and there are two flat screen TVs. The issues are that even in the fourth floor it does get noisy at night as people wander into the building. Not a big deal if uv skied all day. Also the building is across the street from the ski runs so you need to cross a street and ski a bit down a trail. In any case, a great price.

Very clean, nicely appointed, but tiny living and no dining space. Too much trouble to make reservation and no one on site if problems occur. Don't forget your key after 10:00pm or you"ll sleep in the snow. Unit is just above front doors and was very people noisy til midnight both nights. Also don't plan on sleeping past 7:00am...more noise. Game room with nothing there???

A FlipKey verified reviewer from London UK

The booking service through allura Direct was very efficient as always and the owners made personal contact to check everything was going OK and answered any queries immediately. The accomodation was clean, comprehensively equipped, well furnished and very secure to ensure a very comfortable stay. The amenties in the block - laundry room, pool, hot tub and ski storage were excellent, but as the reception desk was not in use there was no facility to leave baggage after check out time but making friends with a neighbour fixed that problem. The location is ideal to ski in and out to Blackcomb. There are no shops, restaurants or other retail outlets in the immediate vicinity, but the free shuttle bus service to Whistler makes up for this, although occaisionally services can be cut without notice and they tend to run slightly ahead of schedule. I intend to use this condo again during my next visit.

Very nicely decorated, great king sized bed. There were condiments already in the fridge so we didn't have to buy anything extra for our meals. We didn't have to worry about keeping a key with us. Overall, a very nice place to stay as a couple, clean and quiet. The only downside was the underground parking, which was a bit too expensive ($16/day). So we ended up parking on the street, even though we had valuables in the car. Thankfully nothing happened, but if it had, I imagine it would have been very frustrating.

After having been disappointed with various accommodations during our 8 day road trip to Banff, Jasper and Salmon arm we were pleasantly surprised with the Marquis in Whistler. We stayed in condo 403, managed by Karen and David Westrheim, which had everything for a comfortable stay. Our friend from Germany was also very pleased due to it's cleanliness, amenities, good location and good value.

I would definitely recommend this condo whether you are traveling with your spouse or small children. Everything was tastefully decorated and new. Our only disappointment was that the swimming pool wasn't in service. It would have been nice to have been informed of that ahead of time. However, the hot tub was very nice. The owners were very prompt and professional in their communication with us, and check-in was very easy.

This was my first time booking a private rental condo through the internet. I was amazed at how it was cheaper and more personal to stay in a condo rather than a busy co-operporate hotel. Karen and David were very accomadating in that the fireplace had been switched off for the summer and was'nt available at the time of our stay, so they were willing to compenstate at some level for our next stay. The property had been updated and was very clean and cozy. A bit of a hike to the village when rainy out..but hey..after all you are in the mountains... thanks for evrything provided..a great selection of dvd's too!!! I look forward to going back again.

Loved the condo: location was great and the condo is clean and well appointed for guests. However, the window was open in the living room much to our surprise. We later surmised that prior guests had left it open to provide some relief from the heat. The outdoor daytime temperature was quite warm during our stay and the condo really required a fan or air conditioner to provide comfortable sleeping at night. Also, work crews were at work early (7 am?) installing landscaping outside of our unit the next morning. Our last evening, notice was posted by the elevator that the water would be turned off to units sometime the following morning for work requirements. We hastily left water in the sinks to aid getting ready in the morning. Did not make for a restful stay.

Everything was fine. The only points that we were unhappy with were the fold out bed is so uncomfortable we had to let the kids sleep with us and there was no toilet paper.

Owner Response

We are very sorry you had trouble locating the toiletpaper. Upon your arrival we have verified that there was three rolls of toilet paper in the suite; one roll mounted and two more under the bathroom sink in the cupboard. Upon your departure, we verified that the two rolls of additional toilet paper in the unique brand we supply were still there. Also, the four boxes of Kleenex tissue that we also provided throughout the suite were also still there. As for the sofabed, we have purchased the highest quality mattress we can find. We regret your difficulties . . .

Everything we needed for our early season ski break

JRider_10 from Stratford, Ontario
Date: Dec-29-2010

This is a very well equipped, spotlessly clean, newly refurbished and refurnished one bedroom condo (note that Tripadvisor says 2 bedrooms). Ski-in / ski-out is a bit of a stretch - we found it most convenient to take Whistler's free bus service, which stops right at the end of the driveway. We very much enjoyed the shared indoor hot tub - great for meeting other visitors, along with the outdoor pool. We have rented privately on several ski trips, and have to say that the owners of this unit, David & Karen, have gone beyond the norm to make their visitors comfortable. It was the first time we had seen a recent model computer with internet access provided, along with wireless internet for all the electronics we brought along. Many questions were answered by handy notes, tastefully posted within the unit. I rated "Service" high, because I didn't want to put anyone off, but this is a self-serve situation. There was someone at the front-desk during business hours if you had a question, but otherwise we were on our own, and had no issues with that whatsoever. Parking is an extra $16/day.

Owner Response

We wish to make it very clear that the suite is a One Bedroom unit with a pull-out Sofabed in the Livingroom, so it sleeps four. TripAdviser and FlipKey mistakenly have listed our suite as a Two Bedroom unit and they have since confirmed that they will correct this data, which is beyond our control.
