Love Glacier Lodge for location and amenities. We have stayed at many different Whistler condos over the years and now we always come back to Glacier Lodge. This is a very nice 1 bdrm+loft unit on the top floor. Nicely furnished and well equipped kitchen.
California shutters offer privacy for the loft bedroom. Two large portable fans were a blessing in the recent heat wave - as was the pool. Front desk check-in and assistance is a bonus.View Full Review
Modern condo in the upper village

This condo is located in the upper village (Blackcomb side) which is much quieter than the main village. It is about a 2 minute walk to the closest chairlift which goes up Blackcomb Mountain. It's about a 10 minute walk down the valley trail if you want to get to the Whistler gondola in the main village. There are a couple of good restaurants nearby and even a small pub and liquor store down the hall from where you check in. Parking is $15 a day. There is a ski/board valet downstairs at the ski shop that checks your equipment for free. The condo itself is very nice and has been recently renovated. It has a modern feel with lots of space and we found it to be very comfortable. It is located quite a distance from the elevator but it's great because you don't hear people coming and going all day. The kitchen had everything we needed when making meals. The heated floors are wonderful in the morning and there were ample towels in both washrooms. The bedrooms had comfy beds and both had wardrobes so you could unpack and feel like you were at home. There was some road noise in the mornings if you are a light sleeper, but no where near the noise level of the main village. (like late night hooligans and early morning snow removal equipment.) The complex uses codes rather than keys for all doors which we found very convenient. The pool was a good size and there are 2 hot tubs and a small gym. The owner quickly responded when we required some help over our 11 day stay. We would definitely choose this location again.View Full Review
Good space and location - but not clean

We were surprised to find used towels/linens, trash, dust/dirt, etc all over the home. I understand that is not the fault of the owner; but the cleaners, but we weren't thrilled to clean up the mess of the previous tenants. Also, the cleaners came to our door at 9:30am; even though we were checking out at 10:00am; to make sure we were in fact departing at that time - felt rushed to get out.
We found everything we needed in the kitchen; however again - one of the pots (the big one); from the previous tenants had cooked and burned their food; and was never cleaned.
I moved the beds and tables around in the master bedroom for a more 'open' set up; also allowed more space between the two beds. I would recommend that layout versus the one we were provided.
1 of the lamps in the bedroom doesn't work - I assume the bulb is out. And the hair dryer in the master bedroom (the one on the wall) wasn't working properly either. Also it's VERY warm in the master bedroom; even with all the windows open; the coolest space was the living room area due to the fan that would circulate the air. Lastly, the balcony door is quite tricky to open.
I asked a few questions in my initial reservations which were never answered by the owner; however all the requests were met. I did appreciate the owner calling on the final day asking how our stay went.

This is a great condo if you want to stay at the Blackcomb base. The Glacier lodge has easy parking, a nice heated outdoor pool and jacuzzis. There is also the Hidden Lodge spa downstairs where we got great massages. The condo was very clean and had a modern feel. There were plenty of towels and pillows. The beds were fantastic. The Unit is a bit of a trek from the elevator, but they provide luggage trolleys and there is a staircase at the end of the hall that we used if we didn't need the car. You get a key code that accesses all parts of the lodge, so even the kids can go off and come back on their own. We rented bikes at Can-Ski right downstairs. You can just jump on the trail right out side the lodge and it connects to everything. We biked and walked around Lost Lake. Walking took about an hour there and back. We had several wonderful lunches at Portobello, which is across the way attached to the Fairmont. The walk to the main village is 10 minutes. You cross through the woods and over the river. I liked walking back to the quiet Upper village after dinners in the cold crisp evening air.
We were having a heat spell, so the lodge let us borrow fans - there isn't any A/C. But you don't really need it at night when you are sleeping. The unit faces the street, so if you can't sleep with occasional night traffic going by, that would be a concern. However, if you do all the activities during the day, you'll be so exhausted - you'll sleep like a rock!
The W/D are down the hall, but the owner's provide the detergent. Bring Canadian dollar coins for the W/D. $2/load.
We love whistler. I might try a different rental just for a different experience, but I would not have a problem staying here again.View Full Review
Nice condo in a good location

Stayed here for a week in January with two adults and two kids. This is a really nice condo, well appointed and in pretty good condition. It is on the Blackcomb Way road side of the complex so the balcony basically overlooks the road. The condo is as we expected from looking at the pictures. As you walk in there is the main bathroom to your left, stairs to the loft to your right, and a mud-room to put your boots and coats. Then as you walk through the master bedroom is to your left, the kitchen and dining ahead of you and the seating area ahead of that. For us, with young kids, it was a great layout. Kids loved their loft. In terms of location it is very good but not perfect. First off the condo itself is a long walk from the one and only elevator. And then it is a five minute walk to the base of Blackcomb. Not a million miles by any means but for sure not ski-in/ski-out either. We would basically take our ski boots in a back pack and carry them to the base where we'd change and leave our regular boots in lockers at Blackcomb rather than trek so far in ski boots. On the plus side there is an Affinity Rentals location in the building and we were able to keep our skis their at night. Nice folks working there too. In terms of what's nearby, the Upper Village is definitely quiet but that suited us nicely. You have the restaurants at Chateau Fairmont, in the building there is a small but seemingly popular pub and a bistro. A bunch of shops along the walk to Blackcomb base and some good restaurants (Rua and a very nice sushi place in Le Chamois, and our fave spot of Milestones at Blackcomb base). If you are looking for lots of night life, go to main village. If like us you are looking for peaceful family oriented location, this is good. One big shout out is the third party concierge service they provide. The folks here were very helpful and took care of reserving all our kids lessons, rentals, activities, even groceries for our arrival. They were very responsive and very helpful. Made a real difference. Overall I would recommend. We are probably more hotel folks at heart but for a nice, well appointed and conveniently located family condo, this is a good choice
