All the comforts of home (and more) are here:  two master suites with king-sized beds, a fully appointed kitchen with granite counter tops and heated tile floors, plus a separate downstairs living area with its own bedroom, bathroom, and living area / entertainment center.  A wireless internet connection is available for your use, if you must bring a computer with you on your vacation.

At the end of a long day, grab a beverage from the fridge and hop into the private hot tub on the deck, so you'll be refreshed and ready for another beautiful day enjoying all that Big White has to offer!

Property Description

Drive in to the heated garage and ski storage area on the lower floor.  Direct access from the garage to a family room /  sleeping area (hide-a-bed and  single bed).  Separate bedroom with single over double bunk,  and full bathroom also on the lower floor.  Ski from the family room to three major lifts in moments! 

The main floor features a gourmet kitchen with an island bar seating 3, dining area  for eight plus, hardwood floors in the living area, which features comfortable couches, a gas fireplace, TV and entertainment centre.  A private deck off the dining /  living area offers a panorama over Happy Valley to the Monashee Mountains.  A second private deck off the kitchen provides a hot tub and a barbeque.

The upper floor includes two large master bedrooms.  One has an electric fireplace and a  private ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.  The second master bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom with a large rain shower.  Both have very comfortable king size beds, TV's and large closets. 

The upper floor also provides an in-house laundry centre.

Special Features

One of the best locations on the mountain. A short walk takes you down to HappyValley village with skating, bonfires, tubetown, snowmobiling and a restaurant. Catch the free gondola to the upper main village for more restuarants and nightlife then stroll down the lit path back to your front door.


Blacksmith Lodge #2 is a private, self-contained unit with all the comforts of home.  The kitchen, living areas and sleeping areas have everything that you need to make your time off the slopes as pleasant as your time on them.  Wireless internet is available, should you need to keep in touch with your business, family and friends after a day on the mountain.

Location & Map


We are located about one hour from the airport and centrally located on the mountain between the two villages. A 5 minute walk up the Happy Vally trail takes you to the main upper village, or 5 minutes down the hill you're at the huge skating pond, tube town, ice climbing tower and mini snowmobile track. You'll also find the Happy Valley Day Lodge here as well as the restuarant and bar. Jump on the gondola from there which will also take you to the main village. Our address is #2- 310 Whitehorse Lane. Easy to find as it is directly before the big cement overpass to the left and it's right there. Ski out is directly at the bottem door which takes you to three lifts. Ski in brings you to the garage door which you can ski right to if there's snow on the road, otherwise it's a big one hundred feet after taking your skis off!

Reservation & Cancellation Policies

Arrival Days Arrivals on any day of the week.
Cancellations Made by Guests Deposits are non-refundable. Payment (minus deposit) refundable if booking is cancelled 60 days or more in advance of your scheduled arrival. Otherwise, refunds are only issued if we are able to replace your booking.
Courtesy Hold Reservations We do not accept reservations without payment.
Delayed Arrivals No refunds. We are not responsible for any arrival delays.
Delivery of Instructions and Access Information Instructions will be emailed to you when the balance of payment is received.
Guest Account Termination The Owner or their Contact reserve the right to request permanent Guest account inactivation from this web sites technical administrators in the event of one or more of the following Guest actions: intentional property policy violation causing material damage or fines, Guest misrepresentation and/or fraud, intentionally defacing or damaging public or private property, breaking laws and bylaws, theft, public indecency, harassment, causing bodily or emotional harm & disturbing the peace after repetitive warnings. Guests will be notified by email of account termination. Guests may choose to appeal their account termination. Guests may be given the chance to reconcile with the Owner as a condition of preserving or reversing their account status. Account termination prevents the Guest from booking this or any other property that uses the same web site
Ineligible Guests Reservation Reversal The Owner or their Contact reserves the right to cancel reservations made by, and refuse business to: Guests who do not meet the policies published in this property's Policies Table at the time of booking and past Guests known to have : intentionally violated rental property policies, damaged and/or defaced rental properties through intentionally destructive and/or negligent behavior, engaged in theft, broken local bylaws and laws, committed fraud or who misrepresented themselves, and Guests who have caused bodily or emotional harm to any third parties. Reservations may be cancelled up to a maximum of 48 hours from the time the ineligible Guest made the booking. Guests will be issued a refund by personal cheque. Refunds will be adjusted for any payment processing expenses
Late Reservation Payments Bookings will be cancelled if payment is not received by due dates. Guests may re-book if the dates are still available - deposit will not be charged again.
Privacy The Owner, their booking Contact and this web sites technical administrators agree to not sell, refer, rent or divulge to any third parties the names or personal information of their Guests without prior written consent from the Guests, except under force of law, or for law enforcement purposes relating to policy and property violation. The Owner and their booking Contact also agree to not use Guest personal information for any reason other than its original intended purpose without written consent from the Guests. Guests agree to not sell, refer, rent or divulge to any third parties the names or personal information of the Owner or their booking Contact without prior written consent from the Owner and/or Contact, except under force of law or for law enforcement purposes. Guests also agree to not use Owner or Contact personal information for any reason other than its original intended purpose without written consent from the Owners and their Contact.

Guest Stay Policies

Check-In Time 4:00pm (1600).
Check-Out Time 10:00am (1000).
Complaints Concerning Property Report all property complaints or obvious damage caused by previous Guests to us immediately, by phone and by email as they become evident. Serious problems should be reported with supporting photographs. We will make our best efforts to rectify problems within 24 hours of notification. Failure to notify us of property-related problems while in the property and as they become evident, will forfeit any rights or claims against us regarding property condition after your departure.
Excessive Noise A warning will be provided upon the first noise complaint. A second complaint will result in eviction. If evicted, refunds will not be provided.
Housekeeping Includes clean on arrival; cleaned after departure; complimentary midstay clean provided for bookings of 8 or more nights.
Liability We are in no way responsible for harm or injury to guests either in our suite or at Big White resort.
Maintenance Emergencies Emergency contacts are provided to guests once booking is complete.
Maximum Sleeping Capacity Maximum 10 people. More than 10 people will result in eviction.; refunds will not be provided.
Missing Items Guests will be charged for missing items according to the damage deposit policy.
Policy Updates Policies are subject to change without notice.
Property Damage A $500 (CAD) charge will be applied to your credit card as an addition to the balance of payment. Damage includes, but is not limited to: noise complaints, common or private property damage, excessive cleaning charges, lost or broken or missing common or private property items, smoking inside the property, pets inside the property and all charges relating to security company or police involvement regarding property. Balances from the damage deposit will be refunded within 30 days of departure.

About Us

Owned by John Struthers and Darren Reid, we decided it was time for our own place to share with family and friends. After skiing many interior mountains, Big White was the place to be. Just try to ski all this terrain in one stay. Awesome mountain for all ages and all levels of skiing with lots of lifts and no line-ups. As an economics consultant, John spends much of his time in Vancouver but resides on the Sunshine Coast where he and his wife have raised their family. Darren divides his time between the marine industry and working as a paramedic in Kelowna where he resides.

We had a great stay at Blacksmith Lodge. The location has great ski in ski out access even with younger kids. We were able to pop in and out with ease.

The set up was perfect for our two families. The heated floors made things cozy. The appliances all worked, the fridge was clean and the kitchen was well kitted out (only thing missing was a crock pot and that was no big deal). The beds were comfortable.

We have been coming to Big White for a family vacation for years and stayed in developments all over the mountain and this was the best combo of location, quality of unit and ski conditions that we have had. Thank you

This was a great home on the hill for our family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the place - the hot tub, fireplace and comfortable beds all added to a very wonderful family holiday. Skiing is truly ski in and ski out - a great location for both the upper and lower village at Big White. I found the kitchen to have plenty of storage for our supplies, plus it was well equipped with everything I needed. The dining room provided a spacious table for entertaining 6-8 guests. We loved our stay, and hope to return when we are next looking to stay at Big White. Thank you Darren, your quick response and easy attitude made the rental process easy. Hope to see you again.
