Local Tips

Food and Beverage

Best place for breakfast/brunch Gator"s, or up on the mountain.
Favorite ethnic restaurants Tandoori Grill
Favorite place for drinks and appetizers Clarke"s Whistler Highcamp.
Favorite Pub/Bar Dub Linh Gate - Always lively and good Irish music in afternoons and early evenings. Also, Longhorn deck in sun, Blacks with locals, The Boot for rowdiness, Crystal Lounge for mellowness, and any place with live music.
Favorite up-scale restaurant Val D"Isere, or any place where someone else pays.
Most romantic place to eat Clarke"s Whistler Highcamp Masterbed Room

For Skiers and Boarders Only

Best lunch strategies Go in early or late to avoid crowds; have your partner grab a table first then go for food.
Deepest W/B powder I have ever skiied! Dec. 4, 2001 - Approx. 22" of incredibly light powder!
Earliest date I have ever skiied Nov 16, 2000 - but blew my ACL on opening day!
Latest date I have ever skiied/boarded Late May - It was still good for half the day. Early May was excellent!
My Weather tips! Prepare for anything! The weather can change fast, and you can find three different conditions betweent he valley floor and the top. Don"t trust what you see out the window - prepare for all conditions. Call the ski patrol hotline and check the web for clues about what you might find for conditions.

On a Personal Note

Our favourite season in Whistler and why. Late Spring is awesome in Whistler. I"ve had many good real powder days of skiing in May - with only me and about 20 of my new best buddies on the mountain, and untracked runs after lunch - in the sun! Top it off with happy hour in the hot tub and you know you"ve arrived!
What makes Whistler so special and unique? Nowhere in the world can you find as much as Whistler has to offer. Look around - everyone is smiling and happy to be here.

Great ski getaway!

Oswaldo from New york, United States
Date: Feb-11-2017 for a stay in Feb 2017

Highcamp was great all around. Our hosts were very attentive and checkin went without a hitch. It is great having your own hot tub to relax in at the end of a long day of skiing. Ski in-out is a little tricky but you can drive to all bases in less than 10 minutes. Would definitely come back.

Just like home!

C Allan from Calgary, Canada
Date: Jan-20-2017 for a stay in Jan 2017

"Highcamp" is a great winter/ski cabin. A short ski-in to the Whistler Creekside gondola and a great ski-home that is even shorter. Very well-decorated, we especially liked the antique ski and sporting decor. The heated floors throughout, with the well-stocked firewood and fireplace were all well used during our stay, keeping us very cozy and warm, even though the outside temps were colder than normal. Beds are comfy, and kitchen is well-stocked with all the things needed to enjoy cooking/dining at home. Whistler-Blackcomb has some of the best ski/boarding terrain in the world, and we definitely would consider another stay at "Highcamp".

Overall, it's a cool place to stay at.

ANTON from REDMOND, United States
Date: Dec-17-2016 for a stay in Dec 2016

Note, that if you have a long SUV (Suburban, Escalade ESV, etc.) it won't fit in the attached garage, but a smaller SUV might fit. However right in front of this townhome there is a small parking lot for 4-5 cars and even if it's all occupied, your car can be parked in front of the garage. This townhome is in 10 minutes walk uphill (and it's pretty steep - I found it challenging despite I'm in an excellent shape) and the path to the slope goes thru another residential area (there may be other paths - I didn't check them all). The slope is technically a black/diamond because it's pretty steep, but there are no obstacles there, so it's safe to fall. The slope leads to the Creekside gondola where you can buy tickets, a starbucks and so on. Getting back is easier: you walk thru that residential area for 3-5 mins and then sled downhill to the townhome (I'm sure sledding on a public road is not allowed, but there are hardly any cars there, so it's pretty safe). As for noise level: it's a very quiet area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Clarke's Whistler Highcamp - the unit was really well equipped and had loads of space. Having morning coffee on the balcony looking out into the forest and the lake beyond was LOVELY. The owners were super responsive to all of the questions I asked prior to our arrival.

An excellent experience all around. Thank you!

Spring Break Family Vacation

Trina from Vancouver, Canada
Date: Mar-29-2016 for a stay in Mar 2016

We had a great time in Whistler. Spring break time of year is unpredictable in Whistler and we had one of the worst days of skiing (raining almost to the top of the Glacier chair) followed by one of the best days: lots of fresh powder and sunshine! The condo was clean and in decent condition.

The kitchen was very well supplied and I was soooo thankful to have an in-suite washer and dryer since we came home on that one day absolutely soaking wet! The hot tub was a big hit as well. Next time I might bring a few board games from home for the rainier "non-ski" days. All in all, a great holiday. We would definitely stay again at this condo.

We'll be back soon!

Jacqueline from Langley, Canada
Date: Mar-15-2016 for a stay in Mar 2016

A group from work decided on an impromptu weekend in Whistler. Eventhough I was looking so last minute my requests were accommodated and responded to quickly. I was even allowed to bring my dog who had a fabulous time (although he was jealous that he didn't get to join us in the new spa hot tub). We'll be back for sure.

The only thing that would have made it even better would have been being closer to the Village, as well as being able to book a single night.

Whistler Highcamp is simply amazing! It was the perfect holiday retreat for my wife and I. The condo is emaculate and Damian was a pleasure to work with. We even lucked out with an early season snow storm and some fresh powder. There really isn't anything better than being up in Whistler, skiing all day, and coming home to the hot tube at Highcamp!

This has been our best Whistler trip so far! The pictures don't do this place justice, it's even more gorgeous in person. The kitchen is fully equipped, wood pile was stocked, king sized bed was comfortable, the BBQ was easy to use and the hot tub was very relaxing! I enjoyed my stay at Highcamp,

I would recommend this place to all of my friends. I will probably stay here again next fall, it was absolutely perfect! Thank you Jim and Damien!

Highcamp Happiness

justine from Seattle, WA, United States
Date: Aug-10-2015 for a stay in Aug 2015

Our family had such a wonderful time at this property. The layout of the home is perfect for a family and the large living room is great for hanging out, watching movies, etc. The kids loved the pool and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The espresso machine in the kitchen was very much appreciated by the adults.

The location is lovely---close to Creekside (easy walk down the slopes in summer) and a nice bike ride from the village. Friendly neighbors told us how to get to some gorgeous trails near the house and we had a wonderful time exploring the hills and finding our way to the Olympic rings.

As it was summer, we brought our bikes and loved riding the extensive trail system (road bikes). Highcamp is located quite a ways up a pretty steep road, so we drove down to the bottom, parked our car and biked from there. That steep hill is a plus--the views from the area surrounding HIghcamp are spectacular and we made a habit of taking an evening walk onto the grassy slopes to watch the sun set over the mountains. While we were there (early august) they started running the Creekside gondola, so now you can access the entire mountain in the summer without having to drive to the village.

Great summer fun

Joseph from Berkeley, United States
Date: Jun-29-2015 for a stay in Jun 2015

We had a great stay here (party of five). The place is very quiet and has a great view and relaxing feel -- exactly what we wanted as a base of operations for our extended mountain biking adventures. The TV looks nice but we never even turned it on. The hot tub was great to restore sore muscles after hard days on the fantastic trail network in the area and nearby Squamish. We cooked several meals in the kitchen. The high quality espresso machine was a bonus. Garage was a great place for secure storage of our pile of bikes. Oddly enough we chose the place in part because it had a pool, but we were too busy to use the pool (went swimming in Lost Lake instead). A few times we drove to begin rides and a few times we simply started from the house, which is fine if you are fit but it is a ways up hill if you are less fit. If I were looking for something to criticize I would say it is a bit away from the Whistler Village action -- a few miles on the bike paths or roads, so if you want a place to walk everywhere this may not be it. But it was perfect for us. The owner was responsive and helpful and set us up with everything we needed (including extending our stay because the next few days were open). Everything was clean and the master bed is VERY comfortable. I hope we can come back to Whistler soon (it was a long way for us; we are from California), and when we do we will hope to stay here again.

Perfect mountain retreat

Highcamp is the perfect place for your dream vacation in Whistler. We stayed with friends for several days in January and had a wonderful time. The cabin is exactly what we were looking for in a ski getaway – rustic, cozy, gorgeous views. The cabin is just minutes away from the resort base and village, but it’s tucked into the forest so it seems like you are a world away. Relax by the fire, sip hot chocolate on the patio, and sooth your muscles in a private hot tub. Jim is the consummate remote host and provides everything you need to have a great time – including a book of restaurant and bar recommendations, food delivery menus and suggestions on what to do. I highly recommend this comforting mountain retreat!

Family Friendly Fun!

While we had rain and melting snow, thank goodness for the cozy, relaxing, family-friendly rental this turned out to be. It was great for our two boys - they loved the bunkbed - and we felt right at home, which is important when we travel as a family. The location was great and the view was fabulous. Damian was fabulous to work with and we will definitely be back.

Owner Response

It's great to hear about our guests having fun even when the weather doesn't cooperate. Having the room and comforts of Highcamp can help a lot when outdoor activities are all wet. The hot tub and a big fireplace help make it cozy.

Beautiful Place

My family spent a week at Highcamp and had a blast. This past season snowfall was low in the January so my only complaint was it wasn't a ski in/ski out but that wasn't anyone's fault but mother nature. Owners are easy to correspond with and the process was simple from start to finish. Upon arrival they have a book of all their favorites in the area regarding restaurants and specific dishes to order. The Clarke's seem like people you want to be friends with :) Scenery can't be beat. Hot tub was awesome. And the heated floors inside spoiled me for life. Highly recommend!

Owner Response

When the lower mountain has no snow then no one has ski in/out. Highcamp is up off the valley floor, but to ski out we need snow all the way down to Creekside. But the drive is only 5 minutes and parking is free at Creekside. It's also only about a $15 cab ride from the village to Highcamp, so it is not difficult to still enjoy apres ski anywhere.

We spent four nights at Highcamp in February and absolutely loved it. Great location, comfortable and well appointed Highcamp was a great base from which to hit the slopes. Beds and furnishings were clean and comfortable and the kitchen had all that we needed. Highcamp provided a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere after a day of skiing. It was perfect to enjoy a glass of wine and spend time with our children (and dog) in front of the fire. The hot tub was great too. Damian and Jimi were helpful and accommodating and made every effort to ensure our stay went smoothly. If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay with spectacular views that is away from the village but convenient for lifts at either Creekside or Whistler itself then this is the ticket.

Fabulous Place! Great Location, amenities. Nice Owners!

We had a fantatstic stay at Whistler Highcamp and couldn't ask for anything more. This home had everything we wanted - hot tub under the stars, ski in/out, very quiet. The kitchen had everything, the fireplace was delightful, and I loved those heated floors. Lots of extra touches that made us feel at home. The location is very quiet and away from the craziness of the village, but not far away. Damian was extremely helpful and made sure we were comfortable. We are for certain coming back!

Lovely stay!

Place is lovely, hot tub was great. We were there in the summer so the walk was nice too into the village - great trails.

Well, we wish anyway! Had a great time there, didn't want to leave actually but someone else was showing up so we had to go. The only things I can recommend is to replace the aluminum tea pot with stainless, cut back on the chlorine in the hot tub and season the firewood a little longer. Otherwise it was a great place which I hope to return to next year.

Great place, lots of room, good hot tub, BBQ, fireplace. Kitchen facilities were great for our turkey feast. Up the hill in Taluswood, but a cheap cab ride to Whistler Village.

Nice place. Damian was awesome. The unit is showing its age and needs a facelift. Smells strong for fireplace smoke would consider staying again
